I had my surgery July 10 and not one has been a good day for me even after taking all my Protein and Water. I feel lazy, sore, and hungry all the time. When I try to watch tv I see blurry. If I walk to much I get a headache. At night I get bad acid reflux. I have pills that I take for that but it doesn't seem to work as great. So now I bought tums. As far as eating all I have is broth. I'm starting to get stress that I will ALWAYS feel this way. I see different post from ppl out of surgery the same day and they are doing so great. I just keep prayer I'll have a normal day where I just feel good :( the worse part is I wish at times I never got the procedure.

Also I take B12 and a multi Vitamin

Blurry vision and headache are both signs of dehydration. Why are you only on broth? Have you tried sugar free popsicles and sugar free Jello? What kind of Protein are you having? Also, if you're taking pain meds, they can really make you feel out of whack.

I'm sorry you are feeling so bad. You should contact your surgeon and talk to him/her or a nurse in the office. You are only 6 days out and once you get on full liquids and purees, you'll probably feel more energy.

You can't give up, so work hard at getting the help you need to make this better.

Best wishes!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
