Very Emotional Today

Recommended Posts

With less than an week away until my surgery I am feeling almost over wrought with emotion. Probably making my will at this time is not helping, but that is something I had put off for too long.

Last night I had a cheat on my pre op. It is of no consequence what I ate, but I really made the choice to eat it. I felt entitled because I had started the diet a week earlier than I needed to. I am back on this morning and don't feel like I have compromised my surgery in any way. I am so sick of yougurt and cottage cheese that I would rather not eat at all.

This morning I had a good cry with DH before I left for work. HAd to tell my daughter my eyes were red because of a sad part of the book I was reading. I really don't want to alarm her or think I am scared because she will be scared as a result.

Hope I start to feel better soon.

God...tell me about it, im day 3 now...i find it's going better....yesterday i barely ate anything...i find it better to not eat anything than to eat yogurt. Whereas day 1 i ate yogurt all day. Yeah, i'm sure you didn't compromise anything...but we can both do it!!! Let's stay strong.

Hi guys, sorry you had rough days. Seriously yoghurt is sooo yummy. I ate at least 3 for Breakfast, 4 or 5 for lunch and another 4 or 5 at dinner. I even had Jello for a snack. I put vanilla yoghurt in the middle of the plate and then I put little pieces of Jello all around it - quite pretty and you scoop a little yoghurt with every piece of jello. Now doesn't that sound absolutely delicious!!!! WORK WITH ME HERE.

You can do it. Suck in those cheeks, shoulders back, tummy in and check out you gorgeous self in the mirror.

Love and kisses, I will change sides at 1:00 pm today but I'm still with you. You could say I've been on both sides soon........

You'll be just fine. It's normal to feel this way. I don't live in Canada but I just wanted to let you know what your going through is normal and cut yourself some slack. I mean, it's a medical procedure, but, just try to think past it, it's a very short 40 min. procedure that I swear, I had more pain and trouble with my root canal than my lapband surgery. If you'll walk alot afterwards you should have very little pain, mostly just soreness, then, 6 months from now, I'll be reading on here where you've lost down to where your buying regular clothes, not hungry and wondering why didn't I do this sooner, really you will.

I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers and just come on here, it's the best place in the world when your feeling scared, emotional, or down. I used this place so much before during and after banding.

Good luck.

SS... ;) Buck up there little camper!!! most of us know how you feel, and the rest have gone through it already, you can do it too!!!

DD...:hungry: I'm going to try your jello/Yoghurt concoction today, reminds me of when my mom would make Jello with milk in it... Hmmm  can I make Jello with yoghurt in it?.. I should try that... After all I can throw it out if it's yucky, (Pennies a serving and all that!) and no one will know...:becky: Good luck DD... :clap:I'll be rootin for ya...

RG... I know what you mean... I am going a tad :D batty having Y&CC all the time... but as I am diabetic, I have to keep sugars up, so even if I don't want to eat, I need to! My poor DW had to do it for 3 weeks... I can't recall if she has had yoghurt:smellie:since... can't blaim her tho. I will push on and take each meal :lunch: as the joy (or curse) it was intended for...

RG - it's funny how we think people are always looking at us and noticing everything we do! Not at all the case. I feel for you that they are going to subway since you are craving a sub. Hang in there with all of us!

Yeah, true...I didn't think about that. I guess it's because for my whole life i feel like i would eat pretty well...but then when i had junk food, i felt like people would look at me and would assume like..no wonder he's fat look at what he's eating. But now i realise, it's probably not the case. The worst thing is that i probably assume that about other people i see...how stupid is that on my part.

Hi Susan!!

Well, guess it was a night for a little cheating... -=winks=- I did too! Tried and tried to fight it but..... I think I felt I was entitled too. I am kinda sad I did but not so sad that it is going to mess up my day. Having an almost 19 year old son can be a frustrating at times... lol and last night we had a chat him and I about his room...OH MY GOD it is like walking into another world...lol one I am not so fond of!! Well after that chat I decided I wanted some toast! So I had some... with Peanut Butter. Today I am back on track and I know you are too!

Susan you can do this and it won't be long now...

Wow the days are going by quickly aren't they!! Less than a week to go now!! Sure wish I was where you are now... It would be neet to be having my band the same day as you. I kind of feel like we got here about the same time.

Anyway, hang in there Susan!! I will be wishing you well in a few more days as you head to the other side!!

Susan,

I hear you. Today is my first day of pre-op diet and the day is not even half gone and I am already feeling that I do not want anymore yogurt (I had some for breakfast). At this minute, I feel dreadful just thinking about having yogurt for a whole week so I can certainly imagine how hard it is for anyone that needs to be on this pre-op diet for a longer period of time.

Thank God for this support site. At least we can rant and rave to those that understand how we feel.

Hi Cat. It is great that we can have a little tantrum on here and chances are someone will have gone through the same thing.

Tonight for "dinner" I threw some ice cubes into the magic bullet followed by some yogurt and a dash of skim milk and had a smoothie. It went down much easier and I am full now.

Hang in there Cat. We will ge through this!

All of you are experiencing what we all have gone thru including all the emotions of making a will. Wish I could be there and help you through this period of time. Saying I was there, did that, did this, is of little help I am sure. I think I startled the nurse when I handed her a copy of my living will. I am sure it never entered her mind anything would go wrong and her reaction made me feel soooooooo good. Seeing her so confident made me relax. After that it is all so easy. Including after no problems whatsoever. Just very sleepy but I followed to the letter their instructions and so far so good. Just had my first fill and feeling very good. Doddie

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
