lied about my surgery :/

Recommended Posts

When I called our short term disability provider they told me that my manager would receive notice that I applied for it and it was approved from this date to this date. Period. She said they will not put a reason on the leave notice because it is no ones business beyond the me, my doctor and my short term disability provider....they only need to know because they will require paper work from my surgeon....they are an insurance provider. And I had to go to my place of employments benefits department first and they didn't even need to know the reason. They advised me of the disability provider phone #. They only need to know the dates so my pay checks can be handled correctly for the time I'm off.

Your manager is just pulling the "I'm the boss" card. He is crossing the privacy line.

So! I finally broke the ice and told my boss Im having surgery early August. I didnt tell him I was getting sleeved instead my dumb ass says I have a bad stomach ulcer. He was very understanding but at the end of the conversation he tells me to make sure on the doctors note it has a diagnosis since Im taking so much time off. Wtf! Now I feel dumb for lying I shouldve just said it was personal but in the same breath im like.. fuck it, if he finds out, he finds out. (Sorry for the profanity) but now im thinking doesnt that violate the HIPPA law? Do I really have to have a diagnosis or is he just being nosey? Input anyone?

hi...your boss doesn't have the right to know what type of surgery you're having unless you tell him. It's all up to you. Your dr. Can fax him a statement letter stating that your having surgery and wil. Be out for ------ weeks. They won't say what type of surgery you're having. I hope this helps :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
