lene14672 8 Posted September 11, 2014 Hi gang! Well.....I had my plication surgery on 9-2-14 and I'm doing great! I'm taking it one day at a time, taking all the meds, Protein Shakes, and bariatric Vitamins. I'm not yet able to start a walking program, I'm suffering with IT Band Syndrome, and trying to get into a doctor here to get a cortisone injection form my hip. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to make sure I have weight loss even though I can't exercise?
Mary0110 1 Posted July 4, 2017 Hi. I just had the plication on Monday. I went with it for a few reasons--mostly the cost ($5,000) and that my intestines would not be affected (no dumping and I have a history of colon problems). I've heard about possible reversals, but my opinion is that reversals can theoretically be done but generally aren't because there's an enormous amount of scar tissue to deal with. Plication has been done extensively in other countries--not so much in the US, so finding a really good doctor is the most important issue. Also, you can still gain weight back with a bypass, sleeve, plication, band, etc. It's really about you and how you follow the bariatric diet. Finally, I didn't qualify for the sleeve because my BMI wasn't high enough. Do what's best for you. Find a doctor you really trust. All of us have a bunch of opinions, but only you know what you can and can't handle. How are you doing?
