5 months in and only 33lbs

Hello all,

I'm finally getting the courage to ask for help instead of feeling like a failure. I have to be accountable so with being said I have a problem with snacking when I realized that I could eat almost anything I was disappointed. This process is harder than I wanted to admit so I know I don't drink enough Water so I'm doing better with that. I have not gained any weight it's just that I'm losing slow so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

No snacking, no carbs, up the Protein (you eat it first and until you can't eat any more - no chips/fries/crap/junk), up the Water, move more.

I am a slow loser, too, but then, I was a relatively lower BMI to start and I have PCOS.

If you know you're straying from the path.. get back on the path and commit to it. It will work - promise.

Best of luck :)

I am thankful that you posted this because I realize I have to be mindful of what I eat, when I can eat.---I'm only 6 days out. I know how hard it is to stay on track but we've come a long way to turn back now. My question to you, because you're snacking so much, gave you experience the "dumping syndrome?"

I have experienced that a few times it's awful I'm fine at work but when I get home it's a challenge I don't snack nearly as much as I use to but I still snack and I don't want to

You get really bad heart burn and you feel sick and nauseous and the only relieve is throwing up. When I eat certain Protein I get heartburn but I know I need that sometimes it is a challenge though

The way I've dealt with stalls along the way was to increase or change my exercise routine and that has worked well for me .

Also I've continued to work with my nut post op and one time she increased my calories which actually increased my rate of weight loss.

Everyone is different and each stage may require some fine-tuning.

That's not dumping Dumping is where in undigested food end up in your small intestine and evacuates itself rather quickly

You suffer hot flashes. Cold chills and then really bad diarrhea within 30 minutes usually.

Mine was triggered by fat and sugar.

Follow your diet religiously.

I thought hummus was ok

I was 10 days out.

Hubby went to an Arabic restaurant and got hummus and falafel. I had a bit if falafel (deep fried) and two tablespoons of hummus. It had oil all over top.

Didn't make it more than 15 minutes and it was all out of me.

The second time I went for frozen yogurt that it was assured was fat free sugar free. Took 3 bites and it was nasty and about an hour later. Repeat of the dumping.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
