I have Dr Wizman and due for surgery next week. I'm nervous as I've been trying to get confirm on date as he was switching surgical centers. My 'patient advocate' doesn't return emails and when I just called they said computers were down and they'd call me back. I put down $6,000 last week and they were able to cash check but I'm without answers. I like the Dr but customer service is a real concern for me. I feel I may need to look for a new physician and get my money back. Anyone know of a good physician in South Florida?

Aliciafl2014 did you go through Oband? That's where I had mine done and I had the same thing with my fill being cancelled because of the new surgery center. I LOVE Dr Wizman but I have had some concerns about everyone else. You can pm me if you would like to. If I could do it al over, I would go to Dr Wizmans practice Margate. He's one of the best surgeons down here but I've heard so many great things about the practice there vs. Oband. I did get my surgery quickly through Oband but they're raking my insurance over the coals with crazy billing and your customer service concerns are absolutely right. Hope that helps

Yeah Jenn. I would have done the same especially as I'm close to his office. I am able to get in to surgery with another physician Tuesday. I wrote to oband this morning telling them I'm going with someone else and that I need my medical records and return of my deposit. Funny this email they responded to. They apologized but it's too late for me to continue to work with them. Either he has too many patients or their customer service stinks. I think it's a little of both. I'm just happy to finally move forward. I've been in a holding pattern so long with this.

Aliciafl2015 I'm so excited for you finally getting a date! Whoo hoo! That doesn't surprise me about them responding now. I've reached out to others as well so I'm hoping someone will take me too. I just can't wait any longer for them to keep stringing me along through this process. Fills are the whole purpose of the band! Good luck on Tuesday and let me know how you're doing and if you need anything. I'm 13 weeks out. Still learning too:) Good Luck

If I'm being bad with my carb intake my hunger surges with a vengeance. So when I'm feeling too hungry long term, I go back to a super dooper high Protein low fat, low carb, low sugar for a while and my hunger drops away. :) Make sure you're getting your multi and extra D + Calcium too.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
