That is awesome Buffie!

Mr Yoda (who got banded last month) is diabetic but thankfully not on insulin...just oral meds. He hasn't had to take any of his gluconorm since being banded and we are keeping an eye and after awhile (ie. once he is on solid food for awhile and is at or near goal weight) we hope he can come off his other diabetes related meds....time will tell! (That is one of the goals for him).

Small fills and patience and allowing it to take time is the best way to do it...and look how great it has worked for you!

I'm "tighter" in the morning as well but I still attempt to have SOMETHING....(one of Dr Yau's 3 cardinal rules!). This morning tightness is pretty common from what I can tell. But if you are so tight that you can't eat Breakfast at all...then....a defill is in order....as that is not the point of the band. As for the "why" of the morning tightness....there are a few theories that have all been covered on other threads....personally I don't care why!! LOL...I just care about the consequences!

Re. the "1 cup thingy"....I generally can't eat 1 cup of anything in the am....like you...I do a yogurt or fruit or something. But, generally speaking....tho I don't actually "measure" anymore, I do eyeball to make sure I'm not eating more than 1 cup at any given meal. I don't find it that difficult to adhere to. It's okay if you eat less too....as long as you are getting in your needed Protein.

So happy to hear you are doing well; I missed my fave vampire slayer!!!

:rolleyes

Gaffer: The whole purpose of my comments was to let the individual know that although she could not afford to have surgery if her husband went ahead with his, there were other ways and not to give up. There are options out there, just keep trying. I never intended to get into a discussion on the medical services in Canada. Doddie

So how are you doing? How have you been feeling?

Hey Buffie! That is great that you're out of the 200's! Feels great, eh?! I am doing pretty good also. Was a tad too tight up until last weekend, so I got a 0.2cc defill, and I'm feeling fabulous now. I'm happy to report that only the first night after the defill did I have any issues while sleeping, but since then, it's been totally fine! You gonna become a regular here again??

Yoda, so how is Mr. Yoda doing? He obviouly went to the TLBC as well right? How are you doing?

Argon, I had a bad fill last summer too, I had too much at once and WOW, did that suck. I couldn't even swallow spit and my throat was on fire. I think I got .5 cc taken out and I felt normal again. What band do you have and how much is in it now? I have a 10 cc band and I think I'm at about 7.5 or so. I think I'm going to go for another .2 cc fill next week, I still feel like I'm eating too much. I think my mind hasn't caught up with all this yet, it's like I feel full 2-3 hours after eating and that makes me think I've eaten too much, when in reality since my last fill I don't think I am because I'm losing. I guess I still relate hunger pain to being successful or something, like I have to be suffering to be rewarded with weight loss. How bizarre is that?

I work in a hospital here in the surgery dept. We had an unfortunate pt who had her band placed in Canada (I'm not going to say who operated on her or where) and started with a raging infection a couple of weeks after surgery (her surgery was in March). She was admitted to hospital here and they treated her aggressively with antibiotics, etc. The ending to this is the surgeon here has to remove her band, I'm not sure if it's been removed yet or not. I feel SO badly for her, I can't imagine going through the surgery and everything associated with that and then having the band taken off right away. Especially since she was probably self pay like the rest of us are in SK. I've never spoken with her, but I wish I could talk to her, I can't imagine how disappointed she is.

Anyway, I feel really fortunate and blessed to say the least. Is anyone going for plastic surgery? I'm getting my arms done next year, if I jumped off the roof I could fly with my batwings. Sheesh. I still have to lose the rest of my weight first though.

Yup, no question....he went to the TLBC as well. He is doing very well (check out Yoda Yammerin's thread). I'm doing alright...have stalled for several weeks...but I know it is all part of the process. Mr Yoda says because I now have so much muscle etc.....that I may be "gaining muscle"...blah blah blah!!! Tomorrow is my monthly picture taking and measurement day though....so even though I haven't lost in several weeks, I'm hoping to be down some more inches. I'm TRYING not to go by just the scale!

BUFFIE: Is it possible to tell me the name of your doctor, that does your fills? My sister lives in Saskatoon and I go there every other month at least and it would be great if I could go there to get fills, even if I have to pay for them because she is not my Family Doctor! If you do not want to put her name on the message board you can email me @ amberganje@sasktel.net

Thank you so much!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
