jenn608 3 Posted July 14, 2014 I all. I'm 3 days post op. Everything is blurry. I've called my doctor and I'm waiting for a call back. In the mean time im was wondering if anyone else had this happen?
BladeFox 235 Posted July 14, 2014 I have heard of it having to do with the medicine they give you when you leave the hospital. Good you called the doctor. Good Luck!
Finally Fit in Florida 9 Posted July 14, 2014 (edited) Hello Jenn608 - I just saw this in another link. One person posted that it is caused by the patch they give you behind your ear for nausea. Apparently it is the same med as they use to dilate your eyes. See this post: http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/259057-post-op-blurry-vision/?hl=%2Bblurry+%2Bvision#entry2901864 Hope that is what is going on with you.... :-) Edited July 14, 2014 by Finally Fit in Florida
McButterpants 2,846 Posted July 14, 2014 Yep - that happened to me. It went away after the first week. It was particularly bad those first few days.
jenn608 3 Posted July 16, 2014 Thank you for your replies. My doctors office called back. They said that it had nothing to do with my surgery! Just coincidental timing right? I hope it goes away quickly!
NORCALRN 60 Posted March 29, 2015 I had that problem......no one listened to me. I thought it was due to the 7 weeks inpatient post op sleeve. Turns out it was due to Scopalamine patch for nausea......just a thought if you are on any meds such as Atropine to decrease secretions - that might be why you are experiencing a change in vision. Maybe review your meds? Hope it resolves.
AquariusDiva 15 Posted May 7, 2015 Just in case anyone comes back to this thread looking for similar answers- I have also heard that eyesight can change after WLS, particularly if you have diabetes. So dont plan to have your eyes checked right before surgery, rather wait for a couple of months post op. Most vision insurances (if you have it) only cover one check per year/glasses limitations etc. So I am waiting for a couple of months before doing another vision test. SaraM8705 2 Posted May 7, 2015 Same thing happened to me. Talked to my dr and he said it happens. My vision was off for about a week and a half. Give it a couple of weeks or days and it should go back to normal. Crazy isn't it!?
