mikferr 0 Posted July 23, 2014 I had mine on Monday. I dont seem to be having any complications. However I am shaking due to the lack of food. Hoping I can get more than 3oz of a Protein Shake down and get my Water up to 40oz. That will really help getting to the 64 we are supposed to have. My biggest thing so far is the burping. It hurts and then can turn into hiccups. Blah! Congratulations to us all in taking this journey. Hang in there!
carlav60 0 Posted July 23, 2014 I had a really hard time this morning. I got up every hour to pee and woke up about 5 a.m. hurting a lot from gas. I took some Vicodin and got up and walked around a lot. That helped. I was able to get a good 2 hours of sleep. I'm going to walk as much as I can today to try to get rid of the gas. I'm taking the GasX strips, which seem to help.
EmmaKathleen 28 Posted July 23, 2014 I don't know how some people recover so quickly! That hasn't been the case with me. Day 3 out from surgery and I finally feel less like I've been hit by a bus. That first day was a doozy. I was in A LOT of pain from the gas all day, but walking does seem to help. The liquid vicodin started making me sick as well so it was like having to choose between being in pain or dry heaving for several minutes over the sink. I also have a little bit of an appetite, but not much. Anyone have any suggestions for getting down enough fluids? I get the bubble guts every time I drink something. It does get better, right? carlav60 0 Posted July 23, 2014 Emma, it will get better. We all heal at different rates. I still feel like I've been hit by a truck, but we did just have major surgery. It will take time. Does anyone else feel like your insides are moving around when you get out of bed? I'm able to lie on my left side but not my right. When I get out of bed it feels like all of my insides move from one side to the other.
EmmaKathleen 28 Posted July 23, 2014 Thanks for the support! Yup. Last night was the first night I was able to sleep on either side. It feels very weird, but I'm glad it doesn't actually hurt anymore.
carlav60 0 Posted July 24, 2014 Today is much better than yesterday. I finally started passing gas yesterday, so I got most of it out. I walked on the treadmill twice, which does help a lot. I was able to sleep most of the night. I'm still getting up about every 1 to 2 hours to pee, but that's just fat going down the toilet! I'm going to take a shower today and remove my bandages. The incisions are really the only thing hurting right now, and it's not that bad. I'm going to start drinking Protein shakes today and some full liquids. I'm sick of fruit flavored drinks, they were making me sick yesterday. How is everyone else doing? Better, i hope.
wwiggins 5 Posted July 24, 2014 I'm feeling pretty good. I can drink without feeling it all go down and hit my stomach. I am going to walk this morning before it gets too hot here. I know I am still bloated from the fluids so I haven't been on the scale.
mikferr 0 Posted July 24, 2014 Percocet is my friend. :-) While I'm not in a lot of pain there is still some discomfort. I'm learning how to drink without a straw. They said the straw makes air go in to your tummy. I think they have that wrong. Every time I drink I catch air and it hurts. Blah! I'm up at night about every one to two hours. Hopefully I'll start sleeping longer so my husband will come bunk with me again. LOL Time to start counting my Fluid and protien intake to see what I'm actually getting in. I'm down 8.5lbs since Monday. :-D. Keep up all the good work everyone!
