Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

It has Begun :(. My poor hair!

Recommended Posts

I knew it was coming, but was secretly hoping I would skip shedding my limited hair supply...not that lucky...hair is falling out like crazy!

My problem is I have completely white hair under all that brown color and I need to do my roots (dark hair looks MUCH thicker than the Snow White nature has blessed me with)

Any one continue to color once your hair started thinning? How did it go? Any coloring products that may work better than others?

Its OK! I had so many things going on that when mine first started I did not even notice, then came the day that I lost so much hair! I ran my hand through it in the shower and it looked like I had snatched someone bald in a cat fight. I sat in the shower and cried.

Then I went short - hair that is and I asked myself "who can give me a short cut, while this passes, that is used to cutting balding heads - SPORTS CLIPS!!!"

lol - no kidding, they deal with men balding all the time, go in and see what they can suggest by way of a cut until it grows back in - and it will grow back in!!! concentrate on fruits and veggies and mindful Protein and Water and you will get it back. My hair is actually the thickest now that it has been in 15 years or so (as the head shrinks, your hair growing back will look a bit thicker).

Mine has started coming out today also . I am 3 months and 1 week post surgery . I bought hair extensions clip in,Months ago but it takes time to put them in. I also purchased toppik products and started them today ! I hope it only last 90 days like most others ! ;( if your hair tangles like mine does , toppik conditioner doesn't untangle as well as other conditioner . Anyway as you cry about your Hair loss I will be crying with you about mine :(

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
