Just saw these at 7-11 (of all places). They are made with whey Protein isolate. I was wondering if anyone had tried these yet. I only had enough cash on me for my diet A&W root beer, so I didn't try them.

I looked them up and here's the nutrition information for them:

Calories: 200

Fat: 0

Carbs: 39 g

Protein: 20 g

Sugars: 16 g

Vitamin C: 100%

Calcium: 8%

Gluten free

Ingredients: whey Protein Isolate, Glucose Syrup (i.e. "sugar"), Erythritol, Glycerine, Tapioca Syrup, Sucrose ("sugar"), Gelatin, Citric Acid, Malic Acid, Natural and Artificial flavors, Vitamin C, Phosphoric Acid, Coconut Oil, Red 40, Stevia extract, Canauba Wax, Sodium Citrate.

They seem to be a bit high in calories but for post workout recovery, they have a good carb-to-protein ratio.

Sound good, but too much sugar for me.

Way too many carbs and too much sugar for me. My plan rules out a "meal" or "serving" of food with more than 10 grams of sugar. And, then, it should come from natural sources like fruit or veggies.

I'd stay away.

I agree with Ginger Snaps. Waaaaay too many carbs. That's more than half of what I allow per day. The lower the carbs, the better. For me, I have found I lose weight with fewer carbs.

Those would wipe out over half my daily allowance of carbs. I try to stay under 60 carbs per day. Also, you are drinking a carbonated drink? I was told to stay away from them.

Yes, you read right, it is a carbonated drink. However, we are allowed to have them if we let them go completely flat before we drink them. Some people don't like the tast of flat diet soda at all and don't consider it worth drinking, which is understandable. I only like diet root beer and diet orange soda flat (any other kind tastes yucky to me), but they have to be super cold! I like a little variety here and there between plain Water and the Mio-Crystal Lite-sugar free drink additions to my water-etc. routine.

Yeah, I noticed they seemed to be a bit high in carbs, but for the person that is really active (read: heavy weight lifting recovery) they may be useful. We'll see - I'm not anywhere even close to that part of the journey!

Thank you for the responses!

I just attended a support meeting where they brought in a pharmacist and she said anything Gummy is not a good choice because our acid is not enough to break it down fast enough to get all the benefits from it.

Haddock eyes,

Does your plan allow you to drink diet soda? Mine states that carbonation, straws, and gum are not to be consumed as carbonation stretches the stomach, and excess air from swallowing with straws and chewing gum can do the same.

It's funny how so many plans have such different instructions for the same surgery.

Ok I see, you drink them completely flat.

Are you allowed a straw and gum. My plan says nerer to gum and straws, and eventually flat SF soda. Forget the soda, I can live without that. But more, much more than I miss bread and sugar, I really miss my straws and gum. :-(

We're not allowed to use a straw right after surgery but heck, I can't remember whether or not we can use one after the stomach is completely healed. Not sure about gum either but I would think that would be prohibited as well because that too can put extra gas in your stomach.

Thanks for asking - now I am curious. I will ask the nurse or nutritionist next time I see them.

My plan is like this..absolutely no gum, straws, shouldn't have caffeine I have used half n half...an definitely no carbonated drinks..he told me he has patients go thru all the surgery part an don't bother ever returning for like after 2 yrs an they come crying back bc they can't understand how's come they gained all their weight back plus..they did wat they wanted to do Theyr stomach stretched so they went back to consuming there normal calories an habits then wonder what the heck they did wrong...my jaw dropped! Amazes me an then they want him to fix it an the answer is sorry no can do...I'm rambling :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
