Lap band woes and more

Recommended Posts

SO I have been having sharp pain in my port side just below it...then the pain intensified over a few days and spread to my flank and back....

I went to the surgeon yesterday...I tested positive for a kidney infection...on friday if the pain doesnt get any better on the antibiotics, I have to go to have a CT scan. His thereoy is this...my port tube may also be wrapped arround fat or adhered to a muscle. if he sees the problem he will go in and take care of it. if he finds nothing, i can have him do an exploritory lap and if still he sees nothing he said that there is a chance he will have to remove the band because my body can be rejecting it. I would be bummed to lose the band...I only had it since Jan 22 and have lost a total of 52 pounds.

Wow. Well best of luck to you on this. Congrats on the 52! Way to go. I'm sorry for your present hassles.

.............................................

Folks I am flat wigging out. I mean it. I'm an emotional rock crusher right now.

I have ZERO tolerance for foul odors. One day something tastes good, the next I could and would gag.

I screamed at my family for taking such advantage of me. I normally work my AZZ off and have so since they were born and since I married. This is some 25 years. I tried to return to work this week and my job requires HIGH levels of mental processing. I just could not do it. So now I am home.

I sent them to the store last night for FOUR items. food items that I can eat. Someone decided I didn't NEED one or two things. I flipped out.

I am feeling like at a critical time when I need some support and YES pampering, they are bailing on me.

Does anyone remember labor and what TRANSITION was during labor? THAT is what this feels like.

Lap- Sounds like you're pregnant! J/k

I know what you mean about the pampering. You have years on me, but for about 5 years, its just me and fiance and I take care of EVERYTHING!! I clean, I cook (yeah right, just kidding, neither of us a cook).. but if someone was going to cook, it would be me!, I pick up after the animals (all of which seem to have some disgusting habit that needs cleaning up on a daily basis), I do the dishes, I do laundry, I pay the bills.. And before the surgery I told him it's his turn, I need to be relaxing and doing nothing. Well, he did it half-ass.. picked up a couple things when I fussed.. but other then that, this place has turned into a pig stye. Only because of the doctor's orders to rest my side, have I not started tearing the place apart. And I've had to send him to the grocery store for last minute food ideas (when I realize I can have something and I don't have it), and he grumbles the whole time. Men..can't live with them, can't get away with killing them.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
