Hi everyone. I am scheduled to have my gastric sleeve on July 25. Now I know that having the gastric sleeve surgery, will change my life. But there are a couple things that I am really worried about. I suffer from chronic Migraines. I worry that the liquid diet will cause my migraines to go haywire. I worry that I will not be able to take the medications that I must take when I have severe migraines. I take Vicodin or Percocet. Can I still take them during the pre-op liquid diet?

I have been looking at a product called Zija and I am really torn between doing that and doing the bariatric surgery. Has anyone tried Zija? I would not be interested in doing Zija for marketing. I only want to know if the product actually work? I have a friend of mine who claims that he lost 125 pounds on the product. But I'm curious if anyone here has tried the product

A friend lost about 80 pounds on it and I decided to try it...Zija was the last thing I tried before getting the sleeve. I did it for 4 months and lost about 6 pounds...nothing considering I was 440. Since being sleeved I have lost 106 pounds in 5 months and my only regret is not doing it sooner. Was it easy? No. Painful? Yes but only for a week and it was manageable. I'm sure Zija is a fine product but it's not the ever- illusive magic pill we've all dreamed of.

Hello. Sleeved on 6/17. I too have chronic daily as well as Migraine headaches. Let your doctor know what Rx's you take. All of mine were approved. My headaches have been minimal since pre op and now a month out.

I was always one who could take a Handful of pills so I was thankful that the day after surgery I was able to take all my necessary meds with no issues.

Today I still take 4 capsules each morning and two pills at night all at once.

I would say that if you have done your research, and you are wanting the best tool to assist to change your life then the sleeve is your best choice. But it will take the most work!!!

I'm only looking forward from here on out.

Good luck to you !!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
