My husband keeps cooking!

Recommended Posts

My husband has taken off a few weeks to be home with me after my band to sleeve surgery on 7/9. I never noticed how often he eats until now! The food he cooks smells great and my mouth starts to Water then my stomach starts to burn since I'm not getting to eat any of the food he cooked. I try to have a sf Popsicle or something I can have but it doesn't really help. Anyone else have this issue?

My mom came over to help out and she cooked for my family. And to top it off she cooked my favorite dish "enchiladas" my mouth was watery for it lol. I just keep drinking my Protein and chicken broth. It's all you can do

i had a whole houseful of people here after my surgery - it seemed all they did was eat. AllI wanted to do was chew. It was HORRIBLE. It got better as I ate Soups and sf Jello while they had spaghetti and garlic bread. I kept telling me self it will be worth it. I think it was much harder the first month. Once you get to eat solid foods it isn't as big of a deal. For example last night my husband had a big burger and I had tuna - didn't bother me at all. And BTW - it was all worth it!!!

Get use to it. I was on an outing with friends the other day and the restraunt they chose because they could take their dog did not have anything I could eat. Luckly I had packed a small bag of cherries for a snack. pizza parties at work are a real bummer too.

I had my operation on 6/24/14 and my 1st day home, my husband went to McDonald's and ordered a double quarter pounder meal....While I was in the car! Then, the kids had pizza. It was hard for the 1st 2 weeks for me so, I understand your pain. After I was able to eat soft foods, things were all good!

How long ago was your surgery? You can't eat regular foods yet like 1 slice of pizza?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
