Kitt3000 757 Posted July 13, 2014 Something has irritated your stoma/band area. Could be many things, something stuck, acid reflux, maybe taking aspirin ibuprophen ? Sometimes requires a small unfill, sometimes just cold drinks will help me. At any rate, your doc/ practitioner can help!

Bandista 7,466 Posted July 13, 2014 I hope you feel better. There are others here who have had trouble with ibuprofen. My surgeon has no prohibition on NSAIDS (others do). I have decided independently that it's not a good idea for me to take them. Let us know how you're doing! Hopefully things will calm down. Another thing that occurred to me is allergies -- sometimes when I have that going on I feel much tighter. I use warm tea a lot but have also had relief from cold -- and I suppose an ice pack on the chest area could possibly help (or is that ridiculous?). Sending best wishes! 1 catfish87 reacted to this
LadyMaggie 145 Posted July 13, 2014 my lap band doctor has me take Nexium (you can now get over-the-counter, without prescription) my nutritionist says when I have issues like this to drink something warm (tea, Soup, etc.) if it persists over a couple of days, you really need to see your surgeon

LadyMaggie 145 Posted July 14, 2014 (edited) I think everyone's lap band is different; I don't know anyone who has had the surgery (family / friends); but, I envisioned as I got closer to my goal weight, I would need MORE Fluid to keep the band tight; I have actually need less fluid the closer I moved to my goal weight (again, other's may have a different experience) Edited July 14, 2014 by LadyMaggie
rigonj 103 Posted July 14, 2014 I have trouble with wine. If I even have a glass my stomach gets very swollen and I can't eat the next day. I've chosen to just cut it out. It causes my stomach to much pain.

catfish87 3,471 Posted July 15, 2014 FOR ME, when I had some serious sinus/cold symptoms back at the beginning of the year, I tried various OTC remedies.....containing NSAIDS as well as other stuff. I had very similar occurance to what you are describing. I went in and my surgeon viewed my band and he took some out....swelling/irritation/slight signs of reflux....just as you describe. I wouldn't try to suggest what you're experiencing, but your story sounds quite familiar. Now we're tweaking my adjustments back to my green zone....slowly. Any thoughts please help it sounds just like me but i know when this happens to me that ive eaten something that has upset the stomach and brought on inflammation. The best you can do is have more liquids Go back onto Soups, Protein shakes and see how you get on. You can also buy Buscopan which is over the counter and helps a lot. Ive had it, prescribed by my dr when i was really bad. If you try these things you should recover without having any Fluid removed from your band , good luck and keep us informed. Also if you can, sleep with some head and chest elevation.. say away from any painkillers... drink plenty of Water.
