4Days Post Op and still sore....

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone who are on thus journey with me. However, I have so many questions. I am 4 days post surgery and my stomach is still swollen and sore and I jumped on scale today and only lost 2 lbs since surgery. I am thankful that I am not hungry at all and drinking Water is easy for me. Which multi-vitamins are you taking? What are you having on your clear liquid diet? Anyone drinking Protein Shakes?

I thought I would be hungry but I'm not. I've cooked for my boys and watched my husband eat but it hasn't bothered me at all. Not hungry and I'm happy! I wasn't sure if I could drink Protein Shakes during this time or only Clear Liquids. Do they go down well?

I'm 4 days post op. I'm drinking (sipping) at least 4 oz of Water an hour. I have Protein Shake drinks from the local grocery called 100 calorie muscle milk & another that is 100 calorie advantEdge. Each has at least 15 grams of Protein & I drink 4 a day. It hurts when things hit my stomach but it's just still super sore & swollen from the surgery. For Vitamins I found some at the local drug store that were gummies for the multi and a chocolate soft chew for calcium/D/K, & a B liquid that's absorbed under the tongue (sublingual). My doc told me not to step on the scale until a week post op. He said the swelling & extra fluids my body would take on due to the trama of the surgery would discourage me. So I got on the scale 2 days after surgery & I had gained a pound. I'm staying off till Wednesday. ;)

I've never seen those clear Protein shakes...I have to look those up online. I picked up One a Day Women's gummies, and I picked up B-12 sublingual drops. What am I missing?

I'm using chewy Vitamins from Bariatric Advantage. On their site you can customize what you need according to which operation you're having. :)

It took me a full week to get back to my day of surgery weight due to all the excess fluids.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
