I was just thinking I'd like to meet a man who also is going thru WLS. Once I lose, I'll check it out!

I've been taken for almost 16 years, but I think this could be a great site for WLS patients who share the same experiences, goals, struggles, and even insecurities. So, I'm posting to keep this thread fresh! Good luck!!!

Really great idea! I'm married but I have a couple of single friends who have had wls. I'll pass it on.

Anyone on the website? I just registered and I was the only one on. Well it is 1 am, maybe that is why.

It's a great idea but I tried before too and there wasn't really any users. I think the problem is there are already various free wls dating sites on Facebook.

Yes! They are usually private groups and not searchable because members want absolute privacy because not everyone knows they had surgery. I deleted a lot of them but I can try to find some if you want.

Oh that makes sense on why I couldn't find any. It's okay, I am on like 3 forums now just trying to meet people I think Facebook groups might overwhelm me. haha

There are almost 2,000 members on www.loveafterwls.com now. It's still relatively new and slowly growing. It will only grow if people use it, participate and share the link.

It's completely free so you've got nothing to lose!

I understand that it is new and growing but navigating it is a little difficult. It is set up like this forum as well. Not what you would see on a typical dating site. When going to a thread it is not as flowing as it is on here. You have to click each response to see it. I don't build websites but it should be a little more user friendly. Great concept though.

My husband does build sites and when I decided I wanted to start that site, I had two options. I could wait months for him to build a site from scratch with all custom coding or we could buy one off the shelf and have the site within a couple of days. Being the impatient female I am, I wanted it right away! lol

There are a lot of things about the site I would change and will eventually. It's just hard to justify pulling my husband off paying jobs to spend hours and hours on a free site. I need to work on content but suffered a pulmonary embolism after my Tummy Tuck in January and have been recovering from that. I will someday make changes but for now, it serves a purpose.

Thanks for your input!

I signed up the other day, imo the website is hard to navigate. I think this is a great concept but it needs some work as far as layout and search function. I look forward to seeing this take off!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
