I just checked out my entries from MFP and my top 5 Trader Joe's foods are:

  • organic fully cooked roast sirloin
  • Omega 3 organic eggs
  • frozen artichoke hearts
  • shredded Swiss & Gruyere cheese
  • fully cooked turkey meatballs

Also a non-food item was actually no. 1 - their high potency chewable Multivitamins.

So, I just got back from my first ever trip to Trader Joes.... Awesome little store. Although small, it had a ton of variety. I got some stuff for the family that I wouldn't normally buy for my self (cookie butter, triple ginger snaps), but I also got some good food at good prices. nuts, dried fruit, prosciutto, mozzarella, greek yogurt kale dip, artichoke hummus, and some frozen veggies (soy Beans, spinach). told the check out guy that it was my first trip, and was rewarded with a free reusable bag!!! awesome.

I love love LOVE Trader Joes. They have some amazing Salmon Cakes in the frozen food section as well as their Hummus. I get the Roasted Garlic and the Traditional. Also their Carolina Gold BBQ Sauce is bomb (I know its sugar but I use it sparingly)..... I get my electrolyte waters there and I like the Pure Protein 35 mg Protein Drinks (chocolate frosty) that come in a can. They also have these bags of Rice Crackers and Edamame (sp?) Crackers (in the chip section) that I love with the hummus and chicken or tuna salad. We buy their coffee concentrate to make protein enhanced cold coffee drinks at home and their cheese selection is always fun.

they discontinued the electrolyte Water by me in Northern NJ. R u still getting it? If so where, I love that water for me n the kids

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
