I'm still trying to get the hang of this site. I like the personal conversation.

Well, I'll be starting my shakes on Wednesday. I don't think it will be too bad. I've be using shakes to loose weight these last few months.

I hope all my questions are answered at the class I have to go to onTuesday.

I am nervous about the life change after surgery.

Stacyann

Ok. Here goes.

Can you have nail polish on?

I would like a list of exactly what I can eat. (I have no imagination when it comes to food)

I take a lot of meds, like around 14. I am concerned about putting all those pills in my new stomach. Can I eat Apple sauce with the pills crushed up in it immediately. I'm afraid I'll have to wait until the soft food stage or something

Does the doc give you a number for after hours.?

Will I have a drain.?

Do you need any money in the hospital? (Like for tv or phone)

Do you need help at home (I live alone)

Thanks,

Casey 999

Ok I was told no to the nail polish or toe nail polish ..

We were told to go talk to the pharmacy and tell them what surgery we are having. My doc said pills need to be converted to liquid form or crushable . ( but check with your doc)

As for the hospital .. TV should be included in what we are paying

You might need help at home.. I am planning on help for a week..

I have to be on liquids for 3 weeks before I move to the next phase

I hope this helps!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
