Ok, I'm newly post op (last Tuesday) and have a"beef" with this full liquid diet. Clear liquid, broth and such. Skim milk, cream Soup minus any food bits. My question is what is the difference between those foods and say... cottage cheese pulverized in my ninja or cream of wheat made extra soupy? Is there a difference? Wouldn't it digest the same as the cream soup and broth? Is there a risk in altering my full liquid diet with other foods as long as they were full liquid consistency and non-spicy or hard to digest foods? I'm not looking to cheat my full liquid stage, just looking for options that might be a bit more palatable to my slightly deprived tastebuds right now. Your thoughts and personal opinions are very much anticipated.

Your new pouch really needs time to heal. I followed my diet exactly as my Dr recommended and I am so glad I did. A fear you may eventually have is stretching your pouch and not following the rules they established over the years could do more harm than good. It really is such a short period of time. I was on liquids for 3 weeks, puréed food for 3 weeks and then soft food for 3 weeks. It was along time before I could have salads and still have to watch hard to digest certain vegetables. If you have questions about your diet, talk to your Dr.

Keep in mind that the diet stages are designed by nutritionists who cannot possibly list everything you're allowed to drink/eat during each stage. I made of list of "questions/possibilities" early post-op and faxed them to the nutritionist associated with my surgeon's office. She approved some of the things, like what you're talking about, pulverized in the Ninja, and others she didn't approve. It can't hurt to ask. I understand you're not looking to cheat and really understand you're looking for options. The same things over and over become very tiring. Good luck!

Thank you Sadie15, great advice on sending over a list to my nutritionist. I'll do that today. I most certainly don't want the stretch my pouch or cause it harm. I intend on using her for a very long time. :) so cheating wasn't my question, just curious if there are options to food that could be rendered to the same liquid consistency that would allow for this stage or of it's more of digestability issues the physicians are concerned with. Again, thanks for the nut. suggestion

The only options there are - exactly what your team tells you. I know that sounds harsh. It is absolutely not my intent to be unkind. My comment has nothing to do with the foods they are recommending (or not recommending) you eat. I believe there is a much more important underlying principle. Your goal is physical change but your challenge is mental discipline.

You are in training for the all important prime directive - lifestyle changes. Lifestyle changes are the holy grail of weight loss.They take precedence over any other consideration. There's no question about it, it's tough in the beginning. But the key to lifestyle changes is repetition. Again and again and again. Before you know it, and without you ever really being consciously aware of it, those changes become second nature. What you "can or can't eat" becomes what you "choose" to eat, or not eat. Whether or not you exercise becomes when and how you exercise. Your weight loss journey will be much less stressful, and a lot more fun, if you commit to one idea - follow your plan. There is no upside to over complicating it with "what ifs" and "I wonder" and "maybe" - just follow your plan.

Stay patient. Stay positive. Stay focused on following your plan as closely to the letter as you possibly can. Exercise to your ability. Maintain a food log. Regardless of what your weight is doing, your plan never changes.

Trust the process. Trust your body. Allow it to find its own way in its own time. And before you know it, you're gonna love the new you!

      Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

      The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

        Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
