My energy is so low after beibg banded.

Why is my energy so so low 9 days after surgery? I've been taking 3 hour naps in the day and sleeping like 10-11 hours at night. I wake up take my bp pills and then drink a shake and then walk for 40 minutes. Do I need to move these things till later? Help!

Everyone's body reacts differently to this surgery. My body was traumatized by all the meds and anesthesia they pumped into me. I don't know how much you're eating but this could just be how your body is handling the abrupt change? If you're sticking to a low carb diet then this is what happens when we curb the carbs. It will get better but sometimes we have to push ourselves to keep putting one foot in front of the other.

I had a hunch that might be the case but i was curious what other people dealt with.

I felt this way about a week after surgery, then all of a sudden I became wired. Turns out I had a food allergy that started to remedy while being on the all liquid diet. Chances are you are sleeping off the drugs, gas, and other toxins. Your body just went through a big change! It seems like such a small surgery but the repercussions are draining!

I must disagree here, friend. Low carb diets are by "definition" high in fat, when we eat a high fat diet, we have continuos energy and stamina. (At least in MY experiences)

But I DO agree with you that it could be his body adjusting to the dramatic changes in his life.

We will have to agree to disagree. South Beach is a lower fat version of Atkins. Low carb does not have to be defined as high fat and I'm a 25 year success story for Atkins.

@@pdb45214 you will be making up for it a month or two from now. I can't believe how much energy I have as a result of losing bulk but also not overeating any longer. There's an efficiency that my body hasn't experienced in decades. It's great and you'll get there once your body has adjusted to everything. Congratulations on being banded and through the initial days following surgery. Happy napping -- summer vacation?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
