I had surgery 10/31/3013. My high weight was 299 and today I am at 203. Some may consider that a slow loss but I am fine with that.

I am concerned about flab. I really don't work out as much as I should. I walk a few times a week and that's it. I am joining a gym and really want to firm up.

I am 44 by the way.

My biggest problem areas are legs above the knees, arms and abs. It looks hopeless but non the less I am so excited about how much I have lost and I how I feel

Any suggestions from anyone that had flab and firmed it up???????

Thanks

Everyone losses weight at the rate that we are supposed to lose, so GOOD JOB on your loss! Now, the only thing I would have suggested to you is to exercise more earlier on. I am a member of the healthy family/work/gym life balance, so I understand not pushing to hard and even the mentality to staying at the gym so I work out about 2-3 times a week. If you don't like exercising or going to the gym, try doing minimal sessions. I do HIIT training (look it up) on the treadmill and either upper or lower strength/muscle training on the machines or with free weights. It only takes 45-60 minutes max and DONE! I feel like I need to maintain a healthy balance with exercise because if you go into overdrive you must maintain what you create to keep the weight off. I don't want that kind of stress after reaching my goal. Good luck!

Congratulations on your excellent progress!

Exercise will definitely help you improve your overall appearance as well as help you to continue to lose weight. You could try walking every day instead of only a few times a week. Make it fun by varying your route and giving yourself time/distance challenges.

Joining a gym will bring results if you are willing and able to go regularly (and if you are properly instructed). If you haven't been fond of exercise in the past, it might be better to find activities that are fun as well as beneficial. For instance, I have taken up bicycling, but I haven't yet joined a gym. I'm hoping that as my weight comes down and my energy improves, I'll be able to make a commitment to work out regularly at a gym.

Thank you!!! I like exercise but need to fit it in. I have a ton more energy. I was in Key West for 2 months and it is a walking town so I rode my bike about 3 times a week and walked everywhere. I need to increase that and do foyer an longer.

I am curious how bike riding has helped in toning?
