Bufflehead 6,358 Posted July 12, 2014 If you think you should have strep, you should contact your PCP or go to one of those minute clinic type places at a CVS or Walgreen's if you don't have a PCP. I am sure everyone here is sympathetic but we aren't in a position to diagnose you or tell you what meds to take. I hope you feel better soon! 2 Kindle and BabySheldon reacted to this
nellyninoska 6 Posted July 12, 2014 I appreciate your concern and Input I don't have fever and otherwise feel fine so I correct myself I don't think I have strep just a bad sore throat, I'm not asking anyone to diagnose me, my concern is I never got a list from my surgeon on wt meds I can take and not so not sure if I could take anything. Thanks
unbesleevable1 420 Posted July 12, 2014 You can take anything over the counter except NSAIDS (aspirin, ibuprofen, alleve etc). Check ingredients. If you take anything with sudafed, be extra sure to stay well hydrated.

I'm pretty sure it's strep I have some antibiotic amoxcillin but not sure wt i can take when it comes to meds ?. Input would be great The majority of sore throats are viral so antibiotics won't do anything. I would suggest taking Tylenol for pain and getting chloraseptic throat spray to numb it and schedule an apt with your Dr to check for strep. Hope you feel better
amazon 579 Posted July 12, 2014 Yuck, so sorry to hear! I think there's something going around. I am just recovering from an illness that started with a killer sore throat. Thought strep too at first because there were no cold symptoms. Also no fever. Then two days in it hit me. Sorry to say it's been about ten days and still not 100%. I ended up with a sinus infection but that's typical for me. Hang in there. Rest. Fluids. Sudafed. Robatussen. More rest. Take care of yourself!!

Dondie Olivia 56 Posted July 14, 2014 In the old days, before penicillin, vinegar was used. When I was younger I had sore throats, strep throat and tonsillitis quite often. My doc told me one more incident and I would have the tonsils removed. My grandmother told me to start using vinegar. 1 teaspoon in a glass of Water, at least 3 times per day. I would even take a teaspoon straight. Since then and in over 35+ years, I still have my tonsils. I have had strep throat twice since that time. I rarely get a sore throat and when I do, I grab the vinegar. It's natural and can be used in conjunction with any meds. Hope you feel better.
belunos 93 Posted July 15, 2014 You shouldn't be taking any antibiotics that weren't prescribed for you're current symptoms. They're usually pretty targeted, and if you don't need them you're just killing healthy bacteria your body needs.
