How much do you take a day and does it really help?

I decided against it. My fear is it will make hair grow in places I have fought for so long...I verified many have seen Hair growth in unwanted places. My surgeon said it is not necessary. Hair loss is inevitable but short lived. I am losing hair which scares me but my hairdresser is not of the opinion I will need a wig before my body catches up. We will see. Good luck in your decision.

I use TwinLabs chewable Biotin and I feel it's made a difference.

Also my nails are healthier.

My surgeon and nutritionist recommended the use of it.

I take 1000 mg a day -- got sublingual tabs for under the tongue. I started presurgery and my fingernails have NEVER been stronger! I've chewed my fingernails my entire life without being able to stop and now they are so strong and healthy I have completely stopped chewing them.

I don't know if it will help with hair loss or not but I'm enjoying the effect on my nails! My surgeon and NUT also recommend it.

I take 100mg as well. I have no idea if it's making a difference or not. I started about 6 weeks post op. I'm at 13 weeks now. I am losing a little bit of hair. I've always had really short hair so I don't notice it as much as all the luck folks with big manes of hair. I have always had flimsy nails and that does not appear to have gotten worse or better.

I am losing a TON of hair and my hair has become very thin. There was a point in my life where my hair was really nice and people would always compliment me on my hair but now, forget about it, it looks terrible. Its brittle and breaks easily. I cant even blow dry it. I am freaking out but its part of having low Iron. My NUT said to have lots of Protein and Iron and that will help with the hair lose. I really dont know much about Biotin and dont want to add more things to my body. So I am hoping to just ride it out and do what my nut said...iron and Protein.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
