Chrissy1953 1 Posted September 4, 2014 Hi Helen I'm new to this chat line and had a gastric sleeve on May 1st at Ashford Hospital Adelaide by an amazing and most caring doctor Dr Michael France,Oh my what a lovely man his caring goes way beyond what one would expect. Everything went really really well with the operation which as I said was Thursday May 1st left hospital on Sunday 4th and came back on the Monday because I picked up a nasty chest infection and being an asthmatic turned nasty very quickly. Anyway I called his office on Monday morning he called back a couple of hours later and put me back in hospital where I stayed for 13days on a drip and given loads of drugs to get rid of the infection, all he wanted was for me to get better he really was wonderful. He won't make his patients leave hospital unless they are 100%. Anyway I weighed 92.7 on the day and my goal is to get to 75 kilos and so far I have lost 13kilos and I feel amazing. I have plateaued out but fully intend to get into exercising when the weather gets warmer. I would like to wish you all the very best Helen with the operation and beyond a very exciting time ahead of you my dear please don't hesitate to ask me anything as your journey begins. With Warm Regards Christine
AdlMum 0 Posted September 16, 2014 Hi Helen and Sean, I'm Cath and Ben did my sleeve at Ashford on 8th September. Happy to engage in chat with you if you need a hand or want someone to talk to. I'm still on the liquid diet stage (2 weeks post-op) My advice for while you're IN HOSPITAL - ask the dietician to organise Optifast made with Water. Milk for some reason gave a heap of us in there extra wind. Given that they put air inside of you (to see better) it's the wind that's uncomfortable when you recover. Best of luck,Cath. Chrissy1953 1 Posted September 19, 2014 Hi Cath two weeks in post op you are probably feeling pretty good right now!! Gosh I can tell you as soon as the kilos start falling off you are going to feel fantastic.my weight loss has plateaued for now however I have an insatiable Lust for sugar it's like I just have to have it!!! I know I have to be stronger than I have been because I can tell you the weight can very easily start creeping up again which is very scary. If you have any questions you want to ask Cath please feel free to ask. Warm Regards Christine
AdlMum 0 Posted September 19, 2014 hi Chrissy! Thanks for replying to my post. Yes, I am feeling great. I started at 135 on the first day of pre-op diet with Optifast and today I weighed in at 122. That's a significant amount of weight dropped. Not enough but a wonderful start. I have Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st to remain on liquids and then onto mashed foods I go! Keen! I do feel fantastic! Today was my first real experience (out of my trackies, ha ha) and back in public and I was a bit overwhelmed at how lovely people's comments were about the change. I didn't realise they'd notice! Thanks for the offer to ask questions and connect with you. That's really gracious of you. I'll certainly keep it in mind. Keep those kilo's off and stay focused! I don't want to end up that person again and I'm sure you dont want to see her again either! Best of luck, Cath
Chrissy1953 1 Posted September 22, 2014 Ohhhh well done Cath it really is an amazing feeling!!! Did you or do you feel weak at times? I certainly did.just thought it would be interesting to know if anyone else felt that way. I had a bit of a fright a couple of weeks ago because I pu t on a kilo!!!!well I can tell you I took it off pretty much straight away!!! My problem is that I don't exercise Cath as I have always hated it with a passion!!!Also I have developed an incredible lust for sugar I can't seem to get enough of it!!!! However I am trying to get it under control. Hope to hear from you soon and good luck. Warm Regards Christine
