Hi!

Am 7 weeks post surgery and struggling with food- I tend to stick with the same 5 foods and eat that everyday.

Would anyone mind letting me what their typical day of food is like please? Would love some more ideas!

Thank you in advance

@@deelyb,

I also tend to eat the same things. Have you tried the recipe board? It has some good Ideas. It has helped me try some new foods.

Thanks, I'll check this out too since I'm also in a bit of a rut. I start my day with a protein-loaded shake, lunch and dinner are usually some pieces of chicken or pork with some low-fat cheese and maybe a low-fat dipping sauce. I have low -fat string cheese, lunch meat, almond butter, and Parmesan cheese crispies for mid afternoon snack about 4pm. Parmesan cheese crispies are just baked Parmesan cheese with a dash of garlic and Rosemarie. Low fat but yum!

I'm nine weeks out, and my diet is pretty varied. I haven't tried fresh veggies or fruit yet (my surgeon says 3 months for those) but I eat pretty much everything else in moderation. Typical day is three meals, and two Snacks, for instance, here is today's plan (I work nights, so keep that in mind:

5pm: Boca burger, on a Joseph's flax, wheat bran pita (I'll probably eat about 3/4)

10pm: Premier Protein shake

2am: homemade quiche with ham, cheese, broccoli

5am: string cheese

8am: 1/2 of a Thomas's bagel thin, with Peanut Butter

That's about 750 calories, 75 grams Protein, 30 grams net carbs according to MFP

I average 600-800 calories per day, get at least 60 grams of protein, and try and keep the net carbs (carbs minus fiber) under 50. Hope this helps!

I'm just at 4 wks, but this is a typical day for me, although some days I can only manage about half of each meal:

8am Breakfast:1 Dannon Light & Fit Greek Yogurt with 1 scoop of Protein powder

10am Snack: 1 Premier Protein shake

12pm Lunch: 3oz tuna with 1 Tbs. salad dressing or 3 Tbs of refried Beans, shredded cheese and 1 Tbs sour cream or ranch dressing

5pm Dinner: 3-4oz Protein (shredded chicken, salmon, or ground beef, mixed with sauce or broth)

If my sleeve is having an "off" day, I'll scramble an egg for supper instead ( I tolerate that best) and if I'm below my protein requirement, I'll try to add another 1/2-1 shake around 7pm. I have discovered that I lose more weight at 700-800 calories than I do at 400-600.

I like the imitation crab meat with a little lite ranch dressing . I buy the shredded kind at Walmart it's only 2.50 . I eat a lot of that along with tuna fish or chicken salad. To keep from eating too many crackers I just crumble one in top just before eating for that extra crunch. I'm 3 months out.. Seems like I have an egg and Greek 100 cal yoplait yogurt . Premiere shake every day.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
