I couldn't do the puree thing either. I did some plain greek yogurt with stirred in canned (no sugar added) fruit for Breakfast. My top and favorite meal was canned chicken with broth and steamed carrots and green Beans. It is kind of a Soup. The canned chicken was easier on me then rotisserie chicken and less waste. One can of chicken made 3-4 meals so I made some @ twice a week. There are lots of variations you could do. I always have unsweetened applesauce and of course SF popsicles. Good luck to you!

If your not going to follow what your surgeon and nutritionist planned out for you then why bother.

They do that so your body heals meaning your new stomach properly.

You could do real damage if you don't follow the stages of eating as laid out for you.

I know I'm being harsh but I really don't want you to have any problems if they can be avoided.

I didn't puree anything. I picked things that were already soft enough for me...yogurt, cottage cheese, tuna, eggs, hummus, etc.

I was never told I should puree anything. I was told as long as I could chew it enough where it could pass through a straw then it was fine.

I ate a lot of ground turkey with Tomato sauce. It was pretty much my go-to meal. Also Wendy's chili.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
