I was banded January 8th 2007. Since my third fill I have the hiccups all the time. Has anyone else had this problem? I do not drink with a straw so I don't think it's an air issue.

when i get hiccups it is my "gentle reminder" that i am no longer hungry. if i continue eating, i will be VERY uncomfortable and possibly PB.

Mine seem to have nothing to do with eating... I usually get them between meals....

I get hiccups a couple of times a day. Usually they don't last very long. This has only happened since my last fill, not sure if that has anything to do with it or not.

I can tell you that once in a while when something gets "stuck", getting the hiccups seems to help it "unstick", so that's the positive side to it.

oooh... I hiccup when things get a little stuck. Hadn't heard that from anyone else so it's nice to know it's normal. It does help things get unstuck after a few big hiccups.

I get hiccups when I get stuck. I don't usually stay stuck for long, so I always thought it was my body's way of pushing it through..... I don't know. Am I wrong?

I get hiccups about 10 minutes or so after I eat. Others get them while they eat and it's a stop signal....but for me.... it's delayed.

And yes, it's frequent. Doesn't bother me anymore except when I have a headache and get them....that hurts.

LOL I used to get the hiccups EVERY day. That was before surgery.

NOW I have only had hiccups about 5 times total. LOL odd but I am loving it.

In the Realize band book they gave me it lists hiccups as a sign that your fill may be too tight. I'm not banded yet so I have no real idea about what I'm talking about!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
