emsgirl114 88 Posted December 5, 2014 Dark old blood. Looks like jelly. No burning on edges or redness. When it first openned up my bp dropped to 96/72. But went back up to normal in about 20 minutes. The oozing is getting to be less and less. But still gross. And scary
BitterSweet* 835 Posted December 5, 2014 @@emsgirl114, did your surgeon provide a reason why that hematoma was not opened and drained prior to you leaving the hospital? And are you on antibiotics?
bobbyswife 862 Posted December 5, 2014 @@emsgirl114 HOLY. CRAP. Go to the hospital! Are those bruises normal for this procedure? Have you sent the Dr. that pic?
emsgirl114 88 Posted December 5, 2014 Maybe I will just go to urgent care tomorrow. I've called my dr office and they just keeping saying it's fine.
BitterSweet* 835 Posted December 5, 2014 @@emsgirl114, hematomas are a very common complication and it doesn't mean that something went wrong. However, when a hematoma is that extensive it is typically opened up, drained, and sometimes a JP device is placed for 2 or 3 days to allow further drainage of the wound, and patients are placed on antibiotics. If your hematoma was large enough that it caused your blood pressure to drop when it burst opened, your surgeon should have had you come in for treatment. Your second picture does look better but the dehiscence of that surgical site will need medical care.

emsgirl114 88 Posted December 5, 2014 I'm ten days out this is it just now. Sorry it's gross. I really could use advice. I don't want to go to urgent care because if it's fine like my surgeon said then I'm wasting $75. But the surgeon has not seen it since day 3. I keep calling and they are not hearing me or I'm not hearing them.
ELI.p.m 44 Posted December 5, 2014 I went to the hospital over this drip of blood . I was so scared. I would have fainted if I was going through what you are. You shouldn't put a price on your health GO To the docs they need to see that . Good luck

BitterSweet* 835 Posted December 5, 2014 We can't force you to do anything that you don't want to do. With that being said, if your surgeon is right (without having seen this gaping surgical wound) and there's nothing wrong, all it will cost you is $75 and a couple of hours of aggravation. If your surgeon is wrong, and you do need medical care and fail to receive it, what can that end up costing you?
nails211 17 Posted December 5, 2014 I had that issue when I had my breast reduction it's just old blood my surgeon checked it and advised to let it drain. I treated with warm compress to encourage draining and alternate with ice to reduce swelling. You'll be fine as long as you have no fever or odor at the site. Stay encouraged.
