messagetosiobhan 17 Posted July 11, 2014 Hi, I'm day 10 post lap band surgery. I was told to take off my dressings today which I have done. However, I have steri-strips over each of the wounds. I'm sure I remember in my post anaesthetic state the surgeon saying he used dissolvable sutures! Do you think I should try taking the steri-strips off as well or leave them on until they fall off? Leepers 1,195 Posted July 11, 2014 Usually they want you to leave them on until they fall off. Mine were really attached and needed a little help in that matter. Just be careful not to reopen the incisions.
SandyM 1,956 Posted July 12, 2014 Leave them on til they fall off. Mine stayed on for over 2 weeks. They just give you added support while they are there.
messagetosiobhan 17 Posted July 13, 2014 Thanks everyone! I left them be and by this morning they have all come off by showering etc! 4 out of the 5 wounds look amazing but the one which I'm guessing the port is in and they put the band through is a bit bigger and very bruised! Feeling so great today! So glad I have made this decision and I'm at the end of the recovery part now at nearly 3 weeks post op. Managing very small portions but 3 times per day and drinking as much as I can tolerate! Band fill is due on the 6th august!! X
SandyM 1,956 Posted July 13, 2014 Sounds great. The big incision is the port wound. It stays sore for a while. Mines been over a year and though it's not sore for the most part, can be sensitive if you know what i mean.
messagetosiobhan 17 Posted July 13, 2014 I thought it might have been! I think I can feel the ridge of it too! Although I won't be investigating it too much as I feel a bit giddy when I think of what's inside my body now
