Advice Needed: Week 8, Still Weighing Meals?

Recommended Posts

Hey all! Quick question for those who have been down this path...

I find myself not needing to (maybe sub-consciously not wanting to?) weigh my food. Doctor's orders are to eat 4 oz. Protein 3x a day + 1/2 c of veggies - if I have room.

I can visualize, for the most part, what 4 oz of Protein is at this point. More so - I really notice when I start to get full. At that point, I stop! I'm pretty sure that I can eat 3-4 oz of protein, really can't get in the veggies at this point.

Question: Do you guys still weigh your food? Am I on a dangerous road of stretching my stomach or overeating?

Thanks for all of your help!

Weighing and measuring are crucial for months, even years after surgery. I'm pretty good at eyeballing portions, but I still use my little digital scale and measuring cups, just to err on the side of caution.

Thanks for the insight. I figured it's not smart...but since when I do measure it out and was under-eating (after being full), I figured I'd be okay! Thanks again, healthyme1963!

Other than knowing how much Fluid I drink and how much Protein is in my shakes (which I still drink once/day) I have never measured or tracked or counted anything. I eat balanced meals of Protein and veggies. I snack on protein, fruit and whole grains. I eat when I'm hungry (about every 3 hours) and I eat until I'm satisfied, not full. I drink my Water and take my Vitamins.

I decided even before having surgery that the whole measuring/counting thing was not for me. Might as well be on a regular diet, and I was having this surgery so I didn't have to ever be on a diet again. I know my way might not be for everyone, but by keeping it simple, I was able to hit my goal (and beyond) without the all the number-related stress and drama.
