jtickle 295 Posted July 11, 2014 Is a catheter common in WLS or only in certain situations? I had a catheter after surgery. Glad I had it to I was so doped up, I couldn't of walked to the bathroom.
alyssaajoan 36 Posted July 11, 2014 I didn't have a catheter but I was able to get up and walk.. The walking actually helped with the pain. I am so sorry you're having problems:/ just remember this will all be worth it. And you only have to go though if once!!
Deactivate 10 Posted July 11, 2014 So sorry to hear, I went in on 7th had some nausea and dizziness with LBP. No catheter. I have noticed a trend and I could be ring, those with hernia repair seem to have it rougher.
Leena 108 Posted July 11, 2014 I've been walking a lot. Finally managed to urinate on my own. But at midnight went back to npo status due to vomiting. They're pumping me so full with iv fluids. I was 198.2 on Tuesday- day of surgery & am now 218. My legs are swollen. I walk 4 laps around the hospital floor every 2 hours. I became allergic to dilouttid now so am on demoral for pain. This has been really rough. I hope in the end it's worth it.

Ginger Snaps 1,323 Posted July 11, 2014 So sorry you are struggling... try to remember this is temporary and things will get better. It's easy to be overwhelmed and get depressed thinking you'll be this way for life. About catheters, I didn't have one after surgery. I guess all doctors do something different. But, I have heard about people having to have them put in if they can't urinate.
ferguson23024 30 Posted July 12, 2014 Ginger snaps I can relate. I had severe nausea the first two days after surgery. My doctor said it was due to the swelling from surgery. But I was miserable and had buyers remorse because I was so sick. Now that the nausea is gone, I am glad I had the surgery. Just really sore but no pain. I pray that your nausea will improve soon. Ask them for a patch for nausea too. It goes behind your ear and is suppose to help. Praying for you!
