U drink a shot of stuff quick and they look at it on a screen working its way through. Takes about 5 minutes, and it doesn't taste bad at all

oh, ok. Is that all? whew! Does it hurt going down? They keep telling us we're supposed to take sips of anything we drink. I've heard of barium swallows needing to drink a lot of liquid and I just couldn't fathom that, but that wasn't with bariatric surgery so I was hoping it would be much easier!

I only had to take a small sip -- not very much at all. It doesn't hurt at all and it doesn't taste great but it's not as nasty as some Protein shakes! You stand in front of the xray machine, drink a little and they film how it goes down. Try to get a look at it if you can -- it's pretty cool to watch.

oh good. Thanks ladies. That's one less thing I don't need to have anxiety about. :)

I'm still trying to get my house cleaned before my stupid in laws come next week and before the carpet cleaner guy comes on Monday or Tuesday. I just don't have the motivation to do it. :P Had a hard time falling asleep last night (2am) because I kept thinking about this whole drastic stomach rearrangement, and if we're doing the right thing, and if we just keep eating right and excersizing then maybe we don't need to do this because we are losing weight, blah blah blah. But we've been there done that and were at the biggest we've ever been. So I just keep coming on to this site and reading positive stories and no regrets :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
