Was approved by insurance on 5/28. I was 453 at 1st visit. Dr wants me down to 428 to schedule and 403 for surgery! I am 436 today. This is very frustrating :(

Don't know yet. I have to lose 8 more lbs before they will schedule. Then I have to get down to 403 lb by my surg date. I have Dr. Curry in Dayton, OH

Sorry I misread the post.

Just do what you can, and every time you think of the surgery, take a short walk, or a few sun salutations, or just walk in place - use the nervous energy to speed things along. You will be scheduled in no time. Maybe even consider waiting till you have lost a bit more than 8 lbs to schedule, to take the pressure of losing 20 lbs before surgery off of you.

To give yourself a headstart, reduce carbs drastically, eat Protein - then veg - then very little fruit. You will be surprised what a difference it makes to cut out anything made in a factory. Just go for the fresh foods along the perimeter of the store. Here's wishing you a sucessful journey.

You are doing wonderfully! 17 pounds in a little over a month all on your own! This is a long haul process, and I think the most frustrating part must be the pre-op part. You can do this... You ARE doing this. Keep it up, and keep posting of your success, we're all interested and rooting for you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
