Is it true that when I start losing weight I will feel cold? I can't wait for that to happen! (I know be careful of what you wish for lol) I don't think I have worn a winter coat in years - I live in MO so winters get a little chilly. Keeping a fan on at work even in the winter months sure does make people look at you funny.

Does anyone have experiences about going from hot to feeling cold after surgery/weight loss to share? Does it last for forever or just while you are losing the weight?

Thanks!

I've always felt cold - but I'm even colder since the surgery.

I have not had my surgery but whenever I diet/eat low calories I am freezing cold. That is the only time for me so I am guessing it is probably very common after surgery.

Be careful what you wish for! I started freezing about 2 weeks post op. Surgery was 3/6/13. I except when working out or heat of the summer, I'm cold all the time. It's pretty common. There was a big discussion last winter in here somewhere. I always thought it was easier to warm up then cool down. I lived under a heated thrown all fall/winter/spring. Cuddle duds are my best friend.

Don't get me wrong, I'll take it hands down with my new health and lease on life. If that's the worst thing, and it is, I am very grateful!

Good luck to you!

Sleeved 1/4/2012 - cold ever since. I have actually got a sunburn while sitting in the sun to warm up. Last year, a runner from a local subdivision was running through the industrial park where my office is, and passed out due to the heat - I was taking a nap about 60 yards away, cozy-comfortable in my car. My boss has actually asked me to stop napping in the car in the heat at lunch - he is concerned I'm going to "fry your brain or something".

I'm excited to feel cold, I love big cuddly sweaters and boots. I want to know what it's like to tuck myself up tight with a book and not sweat between chapters. Unfortunately this past winter I purchased an amazing Steve Madden wool horizontal-zip jacket, that I know won't fit this coming winter after surgery :/

I'm contemplating putting the money in to get it altered.

I for one cannot wait to actually try on a pair of dress boots. Not once have I ever worn a pair. They are too tight on my calf.

Same here!!

I've never been able to wear dress boots because they don't fit over my calves.

I wear those off brand Ugg's lol.

I remember reading on a board somewhere that one reason you feel cold is that your body conserves energy for vital organs, so there is less going on out in the extremities... your core is taking all the energy.

Not sure if it's true but I know I'm feeling cooler one month out from surgery (and not just because I've dropped weight and feel "cooler")...

Good to know! Thank you all for you replies. i would much rather be cold than hot and sweaty. In my opinion it has always been easier to warm up than it is to cool down :)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
