On Sunday I got some food stuck it was the first time that that has happened to me since I had my surgery back in April, it really scared me I couldn't hold nothing down finally mid day I decided to drink a little bit of soda when I did it actually caused a lot of pain and finally made it come out on Monday I went to the doctor since I had a doctors appointment they ended up having to draw out some Fluid because I was not able to hold down much liquid, the doctor said for one week to be on a liquid diet but I notice I am still having some trouble holding down liquids or rather I should say, I can drink my Soup but I'm only holding down like half a can of broth soup I am filling up right away I am just wondering if anybody has gone through this how long does it take for everything to readjust again also has anybody had the problem when they go to draw out some of the fluid they're not able to draw all of it out my doctor was only able to draw out some not all of it for some reason they could not get it all drawn out, so when I go back next Wednesday the doctor said they will do a barium swallow and re add fluid

@@ddsweighin228 Why were they not able to take out all of the Fluid? If you are not able to eat and drink why would they put more back in?

It sounds like you possibly have a large amount of fill in the band and your stoma is irritated and you are quite possibly swollen inside which would cause food and drink to be restricted from passing easily through the stoma where the band sits.

It's a good idea to have the barium swallow done to see what is going on in there, and I"m sure the Dr. won't be putting more Fluid in if your swollen and still having trouble eating and drinking.

Good Luck and please let us know what the doctor says when you go for the swallow.

Yes that is what the dr. Said that my stoma was probably swollen from so much vomiting, I am still able to drink but I do notice the difference of amount , also I have a cough but it is from my sinus infection I have , I am wondering if this has happened to any one and how long before they were able to get back to normal, I am hoping my band didn't slip

When I (used) to get stuck, NOTHING passes, not even saliva - hence the term Sliming...and I knew it immediately and had to take action immediately....needed to leave the table right then and get to the bathroom....

I read many posts from people saying they were stuck all day??? I wonder if they are feeling the results from traumatizing the band area, possible swelling, as opposed to really being "Stuck"

I have at times taken too large a swallow, or not chewing thoroughly, something too hard perhaps, and feeling "Pain"...only to have that feeling linger all day...like being punched on the arm....

Getting stuck is not pleasant, but it was something I did not get overly scared about...it showed me the band was there, working, and that I needed to change my personal behavior and eating habits...as I got the band more adjusted, I too had to adjust more and more....

Changing forever the old ways that made me fat, introducing new ways that has made me skinny and fit.

If you like to cook, you know you are going to burn yourself now and then, until you learn...does not mean you give up cooking....Yet, In MY Opinion, too many people run and get unfilled the first time they get stuck, instead of letting the band make them learn how to eat all over again.

Love you post!!!! it is so thru what you said a few months back I saw a picture of CG with the amount of food in a folk (very little) and I though she was exagerating that amount but she was so right !!! :)

Well I know for a fact I was stuck. Cause I seen what was stuck ,come up , of course after it came up I could only suck on ice chips till the next day and I know after all the vomiting I had swelling and that is probably why I could only eat ice chips, the next day I was able to swallow more , but since I have been on a liquid diet and I have noticed today I was able to drink more than just 1/2 a cup of coffee, I am working with my band not against it , after all it takes to get through this journey I would not go against it, I do have to admit it was hard at first but now I am finding it very easy and every time I go to the doctor they are pleased with me cause they say I am losing 4-5 lbs a month. Also I can tell the difference in my clothes and people.are noticing which makes me happy.

Glad you are doing better! My only advice is this:

Chew to pulvarization!

Things may still get stuck, but lots of chewing definitely helps!

Keep up the good work!

Unfortunately this is why I had my band removed. I could never hold anything down and food would get stuck all the time. I spent most of my time vomiting and honestly, it was horrible. I would always chew my food and take small bites but it was not working. I switch to the sleeve four days ago.

Sorry to hear that, teachercns.... I hope the sleeve is working better for you! My brother-in-law had the sleeve done in April. He's down about 50-60 lbs, I think he said.

Best of luck!

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
