I have noticed some Protein shakes smell bad. Not the powders but the product once Water is added ie, in my opinion, nectar Brand Lemon Tea. It tastes fine, but the smell is horrible. Why?

I haven't noticed any of my shakes have a bad smell, but it's a totally different story if I let a dirty Blender Bottle sit for 6 hours before cleaning it. Gag!

I dont know why either, but you are right. One trick I use when the smell is bothering me (esp during those first couple of months when my nose was super sensitive) is put the shake in a coffee cup that has a no spill lid. Smell issue gone. Good luck!

That is great advice! I do make sure my shakers are clean (It is a chore cleaning those thoroughly but I bought enough of them to always have some on hand and some in the dishwasher post my hand scrubbing) but the opening is large enough on those to smell it so I will try the coffee cup ones!

I am 10 months post op and I still can not drink powder Protein Drinks. The smell gags me. Instead I have found that pre made Protein drinks work. I use muscle milk at 20 grams or premier at 30 grams. The muscle milk is a little sweeter so I don't drink it as often as I do the premier. You can get both at costco.< /p>

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
