I'm really bad about getting fluids in. lately I find myself drinking my coffee in the morning and 1 bottled Water throughout the whole entire day. I'm noticing that at night time I'm having acid reflux while sleeping maybe 2 times a week. does anyone else have this problem and if so what do you do

You're definitely not drinking enough.

Also coffee acts as a diuretic and you loose more fluids drinking it. This is what I was told by my surgeon and nutritionist.

You must drink all of the Water they tell you too or you will become dehydrated.

Now the acid reflux I would tell your surgeon about that problem and see what they say.

Feel better.

liquids is the thing that I worry about the most! I barely drink anything now and knowing I HAVE to after surgery really scares me. I might drink a cup of coffee and maybe 1/2 glass of Water. I have been trying real hard lately to get in more liquids - still not doing as much as I need but just what I have been able to get has made some changes. I find I am having more frequent BMs ( was once a week - now up to 3!) I dont have headaches everyday like I did before and my mouth doesnt feel like a desert!

Try crystal light or something like that. It makes it more fun. Our sometimes I tell myself after I have drank 1 bottle of Water then I can have crystal light. Then that's atleast 2 bottles of liquid :-)

@@sevenb07 coffee can cause more acid production and you definitely need a bit more Water if you are only getting in one bottle a day. I know I have a similar hate for drinking Water. I use mio drops in my water and I love the sweet tea one that helps me get more Fluid in through out the day. I also will drink some Decaf, but that still can cause extra acid production.

If you are having reflux at night, I would let your doctor know they can also give you something to help that. Sometimes it's because we eat too late or right before bed, it can also be an indication of a too tight band...but if none of that is the case for you and it's just extra acid the docs can tell you what to take to help calm that and stop that reflux in the mornings :)

Like you my new go to drink since surgery is coffee. Coffe is a great appitite supressor. Before surgery I could ony drink one cup a day or I would not sleep at night. After surgery I can drink gallons of the strong stuff and sleep great. Weird. The bad side is one needs to drink the same amount of Water for each cup of coffee plus still get in 64 OZ of Water each day. Because of this I keep water close by all day and when I think about coffee I drink my water first, then go have a cup. Its hard and I am not perfect.

Since I live in a cold climate, I vary my liquids. During the cold months, I like to drink hot cocoa. In the morning I drink a couple large cups of Nesquik "No Sugar Added" Cocoa. This also helps me to meet my Protein requirements. During the hot months, I drink Crystal Light (the 5 calories per serving variety). Irrespective of the seasons, I like to drink one large cup of tea each day. I have found that the British teas are quite excellent by Harney and Sons. I order these over the internet. I also allow myself one large cup of decaffeinated coffee each day. I make my own "No Sugar Added" whipped cream and I have this with my coffee.< /p>

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
