Alcohol + summer = bad news

Recommended Posts

So, I am finding it super hard now that it is summer and everything revolves around sitting in the sun with a cocktail. I am 26 and I love to mingle..... If anyone cares to know what I have been drinking it usually consists of Firefly's sweet tea vodka with Water and lemons.... And today I found a new flavor fav which was stoli blueberry vodka with water and I used half a packet of propel's sugar free raspberry lemonade and seriously it was great. I don't drink beer or soda, but when I do drink with my friends I try to stick to sugar free drinks w/ whatever vodka... (What do you drink?!?)

I probably sound like a major alcoholic!

I do find I'm slowllllllly loosing weight.... Shame on me!

If I want to have a drink, then I have a drink....having WLS did not effect that for me....

It does for some, so it all depends upon your approach to living a life after WLS....

Reading these forums, it is clear many people have different views on what their behavior should be....and it's really none of my business...if they're fining success, then you can't argue with that...

It's the ones who not doing that great with their weight loss that feel they need to tell everyone else what they should or should not do.....

In your post, you're talking as though you are are a faithful dieter, counting calories, etc....so in your case that would be something you would need to adhere to....and many mixed drinks are high in calories and not good for those on a diet....so you would have a problem.

Hello! I particularly like any alcohol with a few squeezes of Mio liquid Water enhancer! They have tons of flavors & they are all delicious! Easy to carry with you as well! If I'm out at a restaurant or bar I ask for the alcohol chilled and splash in the Mio that will be in my purse :) I'm 26 & also very social so anything to still have a good time and keep my calories low is great ! ( be careful tho, I'm also a two drink max with these they can be strong !)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
