How do you feel after you workout?

Recommended Posts

I'm just trying to figure out if feeling weak after working out Is normal or if its a sign that I'm working too hard and that I need to take a step back?

Should/do you feel weak after your workout or does it give you more energy for the rest of the day?

Sometimes when I go to walk a mile I feel great and I come home and I don't feel weak but on other days I feel like my legs are Jello and I struggle to finish walking the mile, then for the rest of the night my whole body just feels very weak.

On this same note, how often do you work out per week?

It varies for me and seems to depend on how much sleep I've gotten the night before (which is tough, because there seems to be a tradeoff in my life between sleep and exercise!).

I try to eat something before I work out - maybe 1/2 a Protein bar (I'm 8 months out). This help fuel me during my work out. After a workout I usually have the other 1/2 of my Protein Bar or a shake.

Need to make sure you fuel your body!

I walk 5 days a week, 3 miles a day. And I feel like warmed over death when I'm done. I've never gotten an energy boost from exercise. I might feel a little more awake after an early morning walk, but never a boost in energy.

I've just started adding in jogging to my walking routine and have had to take a 2 hour nap each day afterwards.

For me it depends. I work out 6 days a week, running 4-6 miles a day. When I have a 6 mile day the next day I'm pretty tired. Drink lots of Water, get lots of sleep, take your Vitamins, and eat your protien. When was the last time you had your blood taken? Are you deficient in something and when you work out it compunds the issue? (Just a thought). Good luck.

I go to the gym at the end of the day. I like to have a snack before hand lest I get really really crabby. I am also in the gym for almost two hours. So I am tired, and my muscles are complaining, but I don't feel like I can't stop in the store and pick up a pack of Protein shakes or run an errand afterward.

I am hypo and I had my blood drawn on the 18th and it showed I was low in Iron. I just started taking an Iron supplement so I hope that helps.

I've also noticed that on days I eat a Protein bar I have more energy and can easily get through my walk, but on days I have something like eggs and milk for Breakfast my legs are just dragging. Like today I had a Protein Bar and took mile walk, and when I came home I still had enough energy to stretch for another 35 minutes.

So maybe the way I feel depends on a combination of things? I guess I just have to find the right formula to keep myself moving.

On my functional strength training day (an hour class with squats, lunges, resistance band work, small handweights, core work), I have a Quest bar about 30 minutes before class. This helps get me through the class without feeling totally drained afterwards. I don't seem to require as many carbs for straight cardio.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
