I am just curious I see posts where people say all they can eat is 4 bites of this or that so tell me how do you expect to get your Protein in especially Fiber from veggies. The whole idea is to get your Protein and Fiber from natural sources like food. The whole idea is not to continue Protein shakes for the rest of your life. So if you cannot feed yourself adequately how is this a good thing. Because it seems like people are happy they can only fit in 3 or 4 ounces of food per meal. Then people complain they are having Constipation well of course you are your not eating enough for the body to produce a healthy bowel movement.

Not one of my posts.

2 weeks po today and I can do about 3 ounces of Protein per meal most days. Today was not one of those days ????????

I don't think this is the plan forever but ok for now and I do a Protein shake a day for next 2 weeks. Then occasionally after that.

I also question the wisdom of subsisting on so little food for the long term, but I am just under 2 months out from surgery. I expect to be able to eat enough to get my Protein and fiber needs met when I am closer to goal. In the meantime, a Protein shake a day doesn't feel like it's too unhealthy.

And I think those posters who say they can only eat a few bites are commenting on that because they are still so amazed that they can get full on so little. I know I am.

I never worried about getting in the recommended Protein and carbs my doc recommended. I just ate what I could. I figured I had several months worth of calories stored on my body, so my only worry was getting in enough Water.

Here the video I made about how much I could eat during my 1st 6 months post-op..

As time progresses, you can eat a lot more... And then you wish for those early days when you could only eat a few bites before becoming full!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
