Im having a hard time with water consumption...

Recommended Posts

So, I'm supposed to get close to 64 oz of Water (or liquids total, minus Protein shakes/drinks) and I'm finding that almost impossible. No drinks one hour before meals, and no drinks one hour after meals. 64 oz is A LOT when you have to drink slow, plus having to drink Proteins, too. I can't do it. I'm lucky if I drink 32 oz of Water with some Crystal Light, Gatorade, or ice water, per day. Plus Protein shakes? It's just too much for me. I didn't drink that much, pre-op. And I was told not to use straws. Pre-op, on occasion, I DID drink 64 oz, but it was with a straw.

Frustrated...

Stop beating yourself up. Drink as much as you can and that is it. Only you know your body and getting sick to make a quota is not fun. Just make sure you make a decent effort and take it a little easier on yourself, stop stressing!

Good luck to you!

I agree with Colleen. Get in as much as you can without gulping. Sip, sip, sip. Best wishes

Anything you drink goes against your 64 ozs so count your shakes as fluids. And Colleen is right, just drink what you can. It's a goal, not a mandate.

It would be so much easier to drink with a straw. I started a topic on that... But I get in as much as I can, and don't sweat it. My surgeon said drink when I'm thirsty and he does not require any certain amount? But I live in Arizona so I choose to drink a lot of Water. It's HOT here!! LOL

I try to drink as much as I can & I agree it would be much easier with a straw. Its so bad I'm getting horrible dry mouth at night & wake up a blue million times bc of it. Ugh!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
