juliegeraci 7 Posted April 24, 2007 I called my surgeon and he is in surgery until Thursday. The only thing I can do is to go on liquids until then. Do you think he'll take out my entire fill? I'm at 3ccs in a 4.2cc band. I feel like crap. I have PB'd about 8 times already today. No more solids for me. Julie
travelgirl 3 Posted April 24, 2007 Many times, they'll take out part of your fill. Depends on the doc. What happened that started all this? Do you know?
marys 2 Posted April 24, 2007 Julie, poor thing! I know you must be hurting (and probably hungry)... good idea to stay on liquids and maybe start on maalox to get the swelling down. When I had my first unfill I couldn't even swallow my spit and he didn't take the entire fill out. Just taking a little out sometimes helps immensely and you'll feel it immediately. It is probably best to only take the minimum (of course doc knows best) because you'll start back adding Fluid slowly so you don't want to go toooo far back if you can help it. take care! mary
Iluvharleys 15 Posted April 24, 2007 Once you PB you need to go on liquids for at least 24 hours. If you haven't done that, maybe it will take care of the problem. Good Luck!
marys 2 Posted April 24, 2007 Betty, you only have 8 lbs to goal? that is awesome!!! You must be thrilled.
susannah 2 Posted April 24, 2007 Hi Julie, I really feel for you. I had an unfill yesterday as I was not keeping solid food down, and I was getting extreme pain everytime I tried to eat. Sweet relief! I had 4mls in my band, and now I have 2mls. I don't know what that is in cc's. Hope you feel better soon. Susannah
oneflew 0 Posted April 25, 2007 Hey Julie, I'm going in for an unfill on Friday myself. Hang in there on liquids until you can see the doc.

juliegeraci 7 Posted April 26, 2007 Just an update. My doctor handling it fantastic. He said that sometimes the stomach lining can thicken and give you more restriction. That being said, he took out 1.5 and boy can I tell the difference. It is so nice to be able to drink liquid and not have it stick in the band. He wants me back in 2 weeks for a checkup. housecatgirl 0 Posted April 28, 2007 Glad you are better. Can you give a little more info on the stomach lining thickining thing. This is the first time I have heard that and may explain my situation. I have always heard that as you lose weight your stomach shrinks thereby making you need a tighter fill. However, it seems the opposite with me. I am 10 lbs to goal and at a lesser fill now with only 2.3 yet am tight as can be. Maybe my stomach thickened? juliegeraci 7 Posted April 29, 2007 Hi Laura, I don't know too much about it other than what my doctor told me. He said the membrane can thicken around the band giving you more restriction. It had to be the case because I feel great now having had 1.5cc taken out. I would ask your doctor why you are so tight. Julie
