I an almost three weeks post op and I notice that when I have Soups made with milk ore drink milk that shortly afterwards I am very nauseous. I don't get sick but I feel terrible for about an hour.

I have never had any food allergies never had any milk problems but that is the only thing I can think of that has these nauseous times in common with each other. Yogurt doesn't sit well in my stomach either, and cheese is about 50/50. Anyone else have this issue?

I didn't but several of my friends did. Some people come out of surgery lactose intolerant but it should get better eventually.

So far its getting worse each day! I am going to cut all dairy from my diet and see if it gets better soon.

I was mildly lactose intolerant before surgery and still am. I can have yogurt and cheese. I use milk in Cereal very sparingly, and I have to take a lactose pill if I eat frozen yogurt. I use powdered Coffeemate in coffee.

It's very common to be lactose intolerant post-op. I was kinda hoping my intolerance would go away post-op, but it didn't.

The doctor warned me about sudden lactose intolerance after surgery. So far so good, knock on wood.

Yes about a week post op I was sick as a dog. Realized it was from milk products. It has gotten better over the past few months. I can now have yogurt and cheese. Milk and ice cream still make me sick though. Lactaid tablets help.

Yes me too any dairy makes me sick even thinking about it makes me nauseous. It is hard cause I want to drink the Protein Drinks and I can't handle it anymore. Before the surgery I I could drink it fine and used to drink milk products fine. So in the same boat!

I go to the dietician tomorrow so I will see what she says I am also concerned because the first week after surgery I lost 10 pounds the last two weeks I have lost 0 I know people stall butt mine happened as soon as I went to full liquids and had should and stuff my weight loss stopped! Also I never really feel full, ot if I think I am and stop later on a feel hungry a few hours later!

So far I am thinking this surgery maybe wasn't right for me I am extremely frustrated! :-/

It's WAY too early to throw in the towel (and that's not really an option anyway -- too late). I am lactose intolerant only to milk itself, not cheese or yogurt or anything -- just can't drink a glass of milk. I use Almond milk for my shakes and they are yummy.

I lost 22 pounds in the first 2 weeks and have lost only 2 in the last 2 weeks. It's common to stall some and with you only being out 2 weeks -- you're still recovering. Your body may be holding on to fluids... did you know if you are well-hydrated your body holds onto less than if you aren't?

It will get better. If you do what the doctor and NUT say, there is NO WAY you'll not lose weight.

Best wishes!

A stall when you change phases is perfectly normal. Your body got used to liquids only. Now it is adjusting to more substance. You'll probably experience a stall when you progress to solid foods as well. Remember that the stalls are normal, they are expected, and they are TEMPORARY.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
