I dont know what "full" is

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery 2 weeks ago today and within the first 10 days I had already lost 13lbs. So I know my sleeve is working, however as I am feeling much more back to myself I am realizing I don't know what full feels like to me. Occaisionally I have had something to drink or a bite of something that felt too thick to barely make it down my throat and it creaps down slowly but I basically sip enough during the day of Soup or liquids, just until I don't feel the gurgly hungry feeling. I don't feel hungry that often but I read stories of people eating 2 bites and feeling stuffed and I just hope I develop that. I don't get dumping or nausea so I can't rely on those to tell me I've had enough. Maybe because I don't have set "meals" or measure my intake for instance? I don't want to stretch out my stomach of course! I have to admit I've even cheated a few times on things I've consumed; so I'm feeling super guilty also. Blah!

I don't know if you are a man or woman, and what your surgery was. My husband and I were sleeved so I have 2 perspectives. We were on liquids and pureed foods a month. At 5 weeks I ate an approved piece of soft chicken which stuck mid chest and it was the worst pain ever, and I could not breathe for the panic. Up until then I never felt I even had surgery lol. If you are trying things you shouldn't, you might at some point have a problem like I did. Best to be a little cautious and follow the plan of your surgeon as much as you can. I stayed on pureed foods another 2 weeks after my experience because of fear. It was winter when we were sleeved, so turkey chili was the best thing ever as far as our first "food". I find that if I eat a small portion and get busy doing something, food doesn't even cross my mind for hours. I can go shopping all day without feeling hungry. Hope the "distracting" yourself from food, or for that matter, making sure you are not around food, might work for you. Good luck!

I feel the same way. With the Protein Drinks and the Water, for one thing, I am not sure when I have a chance to get hungry. So I don't know if I feel full all the time? I know I have moments when I feel like one more sip, whether water or whatever, is just impossible. (I'm on full liquids.) I have a fear that I'm gonna stretch out my sleeve before I even make it to soft foods. I'm confused.

Oh my gosh!! I feel the same way! I was going to start a post but then I read yours!! I have yet to know if I'm experiencing full because I just am sipping all day. How can I tell?!
