I lived on saltine crackers. Ate a few after each meal. My nausea hung out for about 8 weeks.

Almost 4 weeks post op and the Protein shakes make me extremely nauseated although I still try to get them down, or part of them. When I take my nausea meds the nausea lessens and I am able to get other Protein down. Greek yogurt and cottage cheese are my this week's friends. Right now having "buyer's remorse" and wish I never had the bypass as I have no energy like I did before the bypass. Is it too soon to expect to feel better, I am down 42lbs but feel horrible. Need suggestions.

I also live with constant nausea. I take prescription meds and it helps a little. Drinking anything is the major problem, as I'm immediately nauseated. Eating takes about 20 minutes before I feel icky. I see the dr tomorrow, and I'm hoping to find an answer to the problem. I'm 7 weeks out today from my RNY.

I know this post is a few months old but wanted to add lemon helps with nausea. I drink ice tea with lemon when I go out to dinner because I do not eat much when I do and it helps with that kind of food where I am not sure 100% how it is prepared.

Good luck!

I was nauseated a lot and it ended up being the medicine to prevent kidney stones. I stopped it for a week and felt much better. Now I'm on a lower dosage of it.

I am 5 days out and have had constant nausea. Cannot drink anything but a sip of Water to get down my meds. I have buyers remorse, big time.

I hear you and understand. I had the remorse really bad about day 4-5. After you get past the liquid stage and can start eating soft meats and Wendy's chili, things will get a little better. I am 6 weeks post op and I still have days that I "just don't feel good". I keep pushing myself though. Walking/Weight training every day. I seem to feel better after I exercise. I promise it will get better, but you are just at the very beginning. I have lost 31 lbs and I was not on a pre-surgery diet. My weight loss is all from surgery. Pay attention to your stomach vs. lactose. I had to start drinking soy milk because I became lactose intolerant. Here is a shake for you to try to help make you feel better:

1 c. soy (unsweetened vanilla)

1 tbs. Peanut Butter

1/2 frozen banana

6 ice cubes

30g powdered Protein

Mix all ingredients in a blender. I have a Nutribullet and love it. Good luck to you!!

I am 4.5 mo out and recently nausea is kicking my butt even with nausea meds. Even Water makes me sick. Today made an appt to see my dr to see what is up. Hopefully she can shed some light.

Keeping fingers crossed.

I have to say that nausea is one of my biggest fears.

Does everyone experience nausea after the surgery?

Me too! I have to force myself to eat a lot of the time. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. It is such a struggle but I have heard from people that this stage will pass. :) let's hope so!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
