Getting to the Ruth of it 0 Posted July 7, 2014 ...dunno. Just wondering. If estrogen is what's causing these issues, then why not take hormone-based birth control? Birth control does help with moods if they are influenced by hormones. PMDD or premenstrual dysphoric disorder is a prime example.

pookybear 284 Posted July 7, 2014 From my understanding the mood swings are because of estrogen being released which causes a small overload. I would think adding hormonal birth control would only make it worse.
latido 178 Posted July 7, 2014 And somewhere else I read that the rapid weight loss releases the estrogen (stored in the fat cells) into the bloodstream, and then out. As it journeys out of you (because you don't need as much anymore), they cause highs and lows.
pookybear 284 Posted July 7, 2014 Hmm. Well maybe it'll work. I never really had issues with mood swings, other than a few meltdowns over food. But that's to be expected lol. I started the ring about 3 months after surgery, so maybe it does work.
