I have been teetering on the scale between 204 and 202 for some time now. This morning I weighed in at exactly 200!!!!! I am obsessive compulsive when it comes to the scale, I probably weigh myself 2 or 3 times a day. But after this morning, I am going to give myself a good week before I try again. I have a hard time with willpower (who'd of thunk it) so I usually make my husband put the scale on the top shelf of my kitchen cabinets so I can't reach it. This week though I will be demanding that he put it in his truck and take it to work with him!!!!!

Can't wait til next week to post my results.

Keep up the good work everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Gained 1 1/2 lbs since Wednesday. This is making me nuts since I am spinning and running every day. Not weighing myself again until Weds (or maybe monday). :girl_hug:

PS - why did I gain? I have not been eating more than 1/2 cup 3x per day with one snack?

My New Year's resolution is to FINALLY make it into the group. Honestly, why do our bodies like to teeter between Twoterville and Onderland so long??? I've been soooo close for so long. I swear it's like my body won't just give in and let me cross the border! But, I WILL DO IT IN 2008!!!!!!! I cannot wait for the day I get to post my screaming post in huge letters and smiley faces that I'm finally in the club!!

Congrats to all of you who have made it. I'm mad at you, but happy at the same time! (Just kidding!) I'm proud of you!

KarenG-
It has to be Water weight. There's no way it's fat if that's all you're eating and exercising on top of it. The darn scale and water both like to play with our minds. That's why it's better to stay off the scale except for predetermined check in days, like once a week at the same day/time each week. That way you'll get a better picture of how you're really doing. You're doing great so just hang in there!

I hope it is water weight! I definately have restriction and can say honestly I am not eating bad foods! I did another spinning class today - am exercising 5-6 days a week at high intensity for 45-mins to an hour - mind boggling. How does one get rid of water weight?

Hey Karen...surprisingly the best thing for losing Water weight for me has actually been to drink more water! I don't know how much water you drink per day but if you are not drinking enough water your body will hold on to whatever it has until you start drinking more. When your body learns that it will get fresh water frequently it will start to use up or release the old water it has been storing.

With all the exercise you are doing your water intake is very important. But, as you know...your cycle will have A LOT to do with how much water you are carrying around too.

I can easily carry 7 lbs just in water weight depending on the time of month or because I've skimped on water for a few days. If I religiously drink my water by getting around 64 oz./day then it comes out for me and I will lose 5-10 pounds from water alone. (You can poison yourself with water though so just stick to a sensible amount like aiming for 64 oz. or so.) I think you'll see a difference in a few days!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well. I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening. So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this?? Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
