8 years later, no restriction

Recommended Posts

I was banded in 06. I lost approx 80 pounds and have gained over half back. At last fill approx 4 years ago my band was full, after the fill I have restriction for approx 48 hours. Discouraged, I have not had a fill since. Dr told me he could still add more saline, and get me where I needed to be. I gave up but recently considering going for another fill. Any similar stories?

Go back for another fill and let your medical team work for you. Being in the green zone is worth it. You have gained back weight but not all of it yet. Don't get discouraged. We all have to go back and get adjusted. I just spent 3 days spitting up liquids and went without food. I was so weak, miserable and sick. I called in and went in over the weekend. They took out .5cc's and now I am drinking and it feels so good to have liquids go down. I had some chicken noodle Soup last night that stayed down and tasted so good. I am thinking this may be the green zone even though I am not on solid foods yet. I won't stop the readjusting until I get into the green zone. The surgery was tough for me. It hurt and took days to recover. This last overfill had me miserable but I won't stop until my weight is off. You deserve the same.

Any fill can cause enough inflammation around the stoma to cause instant and extra restriction. It happens to many people, that's why we're told to only consume liquids for 24-48 hours.

If you want to resurrect your journey you should go in for a consult, fill and visit with the nutritionist. Many things are now known about the band that were unknown 4-8 years ago.

It sounds to me like you just gave up eight years ago. Go back start the fills over, hopefully you haven't stretched you stomach out.

Go back and keep going until you get into the green zone. Divorce your old friend food. You will never be sorry.

The recurrence of weight gain postOp is as welcome as the ex- coming to the new wedding.

Giving up on the game at intermission after playing a winning first half is an alluring strategy that doesn't lead to victory.

It is way too easy to slip back into Old Bad Eating Habits -- overeating and grazing during non-meal times---without really grasping how our path has turned in the wrong direction.

The Band is a tool but it is our Mind, our Brain, our individual Determination that must be played every day, every meal, every snack, and every time we seek to soothe the Belly Beast.

We must engage ourselves in the Daily Choice: do I eat to live, or do I live to eat?

The habits of decades remain all to ready to leap into control of my own Daily Choice.

re: "I gave up but recently considering going for another fill. Any similar stories?"

In a word, yes.

Don't give up.

Don't give in.

Get back in to your A-Game. Use your best moves, and engage your determination to succeed.

The Enemy is Morbid Obesity. It has many tricks. Rededicate yourself to reach your goal.

You can do it.

Thank you all. My discouragement comes from the dr telling me my band is too big but he can possibly overfill. That scares me a little and therefore gave up on the fills. I followed the requirements when I had restriction. 1. I had to or pay uncomfortable consequences. 2. I was motivated as well. With no restriction there is no motivation to follow band requirements. :-/

Hi, It is nice to see I am not alone in regaining weight. I got my lapband in 2003 and it took forever but I recently got down to goal and then started having trouble with Iron so my G.P. Dr. told me I should visit with the surgeon again. I like my GP but really don't like the surgeon. Of course the surgeon told me my band was too tight and he removed all of the fill. I blew up like a balloon gaining 20 lbs in just a month. I didn't eat anything different it's just that everything stayed down. Now I convinced the surgeon to do a small fill but it doesn't seem like there is much change from when there was no fill. I too am very frustrated and can totally sympathize but I am afraid I don't have any answers. I hope someone here does.

I offer you my very best. By the way, I am new to this site but it is nice to see others here.

So sorry this is happening to you..I've always believed that you have to be persistent to really get things done especially with Drs..Call, aggravate, whatever you have to do! I've had to do this because of many health reasons. No one cares more about you than you!!! squeaky wheel!!! Good luck and God bless you both!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
