Juicing suggestions and time off

Recommended Posts

I am having surgery on 7/16/14. What are some good juicing recipes? Also, I'm scheduled to be on leave for a week and then work from home for a week. I work for The Dept. Of Health and Human Services and was advised by my work nurse to take another week off, so 2 weeks off and than 1 week of teleworking. I have a desk job. A lot of data entry, spreadsheets and emailing. What do you guys recommend? Thx so much!!!! Congrats to all who've had it and good luck to us who are on our way!!!!

Seems like people take off anywhere from 1 week to 4 weeks. It kind of depends on the person :) I know that's not a lot of help and as I haven't had surgery yet I can't tell you anything more specific than that but I am sure you will get lots of interesting answers, the people on here are great and very helpful.

Good luck with your surgery and I hope you have an unremarkable recovery!

I am taking off six weeks. I have the time and need the mental break to adjust.

I took 5 wks because of lifting restrictions. The first two weeks, I took daily naps. My energy was not there. Much better now. Be careful with juicing due to the sugar in the fruits. I love juicing, but haven't done it since surgery. I use juice recipes . com . Lots of great recipes there. Good luck to you

Thx for the comment.....that's the thing I don't have that much leave and a I'm scheduled to go out of town in October and February and was trying not to use up too much leave. If need be after the first week I can call my manager and let her know I need another week.. Thanks again!

I am thinking of taking three weeks and then coming back 1/2 time for a week or two depending on how I feel. I am a little worried about pushing myself to get back and not taking the time to mentally adjust before going back to a stressful work environment. I have enough benefit time to take 12 weeks if I need to.

I went back to a very active job after 1 week. Due to the holidays and weekends it was 2 days on, two days off, two days on, two days off then normal 6 day weeks after that. I am a vet tech and on my feet, bending, squatting, lifting, holding all day. We had to make some scheduling changes to accommodate my lifting restrictions (no more than 20 pounds) so no big dog surgeries for 3 weeks. I was on full liquids, so I just had to make sure I brought plenty of Protein shakes, but had no problems working.

As for juicing, there have been other threads that discuss that this may not be the best thing. Juicing removes too much of the good stuff included the Fiber, which you will already be lacking on the high Protein postop diet.
